    Too much freeboard :) ?

Re: Too much freeboard :) - USS Yorktown Re: Too much freeboard :) - USS Yorktown Dual utilization of space was pretty fascinating. Some of the working "offices" were really sadistic in size, while others were really kinda' reasonable. Felt bad for folks like the butchers and bakers ...

    Too much freeboard :) ?

Whaddya' think ... should she be sitting a little lower in the water? :D It's a cool 100' from the flight deck to the water surface. My son and I (along with members of our CAP squadron) got to spend the weekend on the USS Yorktown at Patriot's Point. I have a new appreciation for you NAVY...

OMC outdrive (NOT Cobra) questions, satring with Model Number

Re: OMC outdrive (NOT Cobra) questions, satring with Model Number I'm having trouble figuring out what you've got there ... numbers aren't matching up to anything I can find. In fact when I started with the first number, a COBRA came up and I didn't think they made one in '77. Pictures will...

    Towing another boat?

Re: Towing another boat? ^^^^ Those are the stern eyes that you're pointing to in the photo. A cleat is one of these guys: I would have rigged a line through the stern eyes myself. I like the "Y" setup from those eyes. I carry a 100' line with me always and I can tie it up in all sorts of...

    Anyone own(ed) a Dodge Magnum?

Re: Anyone own(ed) a Dodge Magnum? So to resurrect an old thread, and fill in the "rrrrrrest of the story" ... I had been looking' at the Magnums and biding my time (wasn't in a hurry to buy) and a deal came along that I really couldn't pass up. I wound up with a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the...

post pictures of your bowrider here!

Re: post pictures of your bowrider here! 1972 Silverline Comoro. The "crew" earlier this season ... the Admiral took the day off. Interior is in pretty good shape. This is actually before I did some work to it 2 years ago.

Plugs and wires 1972 Stringer NLA?

Last weekend on the lake lost a buncha' power on the way back in and got a constant "popping" noise (not like a backfire, quieter than that). No smoke, big booms or anything of that nature and she'll idle just fine (albeit with the popping noise). 1972 OMC inline 6 (Chevy 250 / JUFM-10S) I...

Re: has anyone ever heard of a 1978 pioneer runabout ? I turned this up in a Google search. Dunno' if it helps much, but there is an address on the bottom.

New to tubing....how to keep "rider down" safe when floating in water.

Re: New to tubing....how to keep "rider down" safe when floating in water. We've always required out tuber/skier to hold the "I'm okay" signal until the boat is back close by (upper right in this image): Our vests are all bright yellow or orange, and the raised arms breaks the water surface...

Official Business of the 3V Club ( aka tri hull club )

Re: Official Business of the 3V Club ( aka tri hull club ) Went out today with the family - proudly donning the new sticker - We took a wake and it hit the bow pretty good - the Admiral looks at me and says, "that must have been the wave slapping engineering awesomeness I just felt." :D:D...

    PROP GUARD or SWIM PLATFORM??

Re: PROP GUARD or SWIM PLATFORM?? I would recommend a swim platform over a prop guard - but you can also make a "no jumping" rule and get a ladder to hang over the side. Ladder is considerably less expensive.

    mystery hole in sterndrive

Re: mystery hole in sterndrive Okay - I can see the quadrant up in the left side of the photo: it's an OMC Stringer. Dunno' which one for sure, but it looks electric shift. The hole you're looking at is the the lube hole for the swivel - best illustration for it I can find right now is this...

Rafting up - boat to boat connections

Hey y'all: as anybody seen/bought a way to raft up boats together out on the water? People raft up on the lakes all the time, but I've not seen anything specifically built for this purpose. Most of the time you pull alongside, toss out the fenders and tie up. Anyone seen/done anything...

    Helo Everyone.....Extremely new to boating.........

Re: Helo Everyone.....Extremely new to boating......... Welcome aboard Matt: You got yer' work cut out for you. I don't know much about the 800 (which I think you're correct that you have) and have goofed once or twice with advice 'cause they're very different from my drive. That cable is...

    Stringer locked up ... kinda'

Re: Stringer locked up ... kinda' - UPDATE Re: Stringer locked up ... kinda' - UPDATE Well ... it's not "kinda'" anymore. The upper gear case is seizing up. Here's what I did: I took the sterndrive off the boat and started her up. Kicked right up with no problem and idled fine. So, I've...

    Stringer locked up ... kinda'

To my fellow OMC "keep it alive" guys: I took the boat out this past weekend, and after idling out of the marina (no wake) I went to throttle up. When I did, the engine gave me a little squeak (literally sounded like a belt slipping) and the then died. I tried to start two times, but just got...

Good Seamanship and Rendering Help - little rant

Wanted to take the boat out today for a run and do some swimming with the kids (and dog). Prepped the boat, hauled her to the lake (Priest Lake here in Nashville) and plopped in. Pulling outta' the marina, just approaching the main channel marker, I went to throttle up ... heard a "squeak" in...

    1959 Lake N' Sea Restoration

Re: 1959 Lake N' Sea Restoration I like it in the photo. Tone is good: Not too light, but it doesn't hit that fluorescent stage. I think tying some of that tone in with the fleck on the flooring would be good, but try to get as close to a 25% grey as you can. Roughly this color: It'll...
