    Oil change could be easier...

Ok. So I’ve never found either of these an issue. In fact I honestly don’t know anyone here in U.K. that actually uses the threaded dip stick fitting to extract the oil. I just use a vacuum pump with a tube that goes down the dipstick hole into the sump. as for the oil filter upside down...

Zerk size on 2006 Optimax 200

As said. Not a grease nipple. that aside...keen to hear more about these adjustable grease guns...haha.

    Rocker Switch Panel

Probably a bit late at night for me to think clearly after reading this. Sure you’re likely right...but just know that I have rocker switches with 5 pins. Took me by surprise. They can be configured to have just the usual set up for off and on. Or off and on with illumination when on...or all of...

    Size and pitch for prop

Will almost certainly be a RH...but I’m afraid everyone is guessing at it...unless you provide more details what rpm was it seeing wot ? What’s the gear ratio ? What gps top speed did you see ?

    Rocker Switch Panel

So sometimes these are linked together with a source to provide the backlighting to the switch. They may have gotten it slightly wrong doing this and causing your issue. They meant to light up with a feed when either of ignition or nav lights turned on...with mine anyway. This is done by a...

Clearing salt build up from block

I haven’t sea rider. Not worth the hassle to be honest. I did buy a wee tiny tach for the jet ski. Maybe stick it on this out of interest. I know it’s likely over revving a little with the 7 1/2 pitch and they are more commonly found on the 6hp version on set ups like this. Ordered an 8 1/2”...

The Mariner Merc enjoying a cold cruise on the Loch

Wee picture of my current situation as we speak. loving this engine. Just touching 600 hours. Due another impeller and fuel rail clean...as well as the usual service. Such a delight to work on. Any others with this wonderful engine ? So powerful and way more than the 115 badge for sure.

Clearing salt build up from block

Haha. It’s been booked as a priority 3 in the to do list. priority 1 is getting my wee 40 year old cvx16 running, raising the engine height on the cuddy and fitting the new steering system. Remove the terrible antifoul and in between all that...lots of winter days out on the wee 2.5m rib with...

    Starter issues

Pull the spark plugs out. The pessimism in me suspects you may have water in there. Will tell a story one way or the other at least.

    Blue smoke during warmup

How much oil do you have in these motors ?

    Mercruiser 6.2L MPI overheating

If it does that after starting from cold...I’d be almost certain it’s not genuinely doing that. Sure it’s not the famous SW pressure sensor needing replaced...common to these mpi.

    What is this strange noise

Sounds good. What prop and hub kit is on it ?
  13. Q

    What is this strange noise

I’d check that prop and how it’s fitted. Is the thrust spacer there ? Can you move it on the shaft excessively? Is it hitting a trim anode fin perhaps.

    New 205ss crownline-is 200 HP enough?

Agree totally. Also add that I’ve yet to see a factory set up boat with a bravo 3 or VP DP that wasn’t almost perfectly propped. They do so well. love my mpi. Only an alpha on its limit of power perhaps...but have her mostly propped to sit at around 25ish mph at 2200 rpm and using about 17/18...

Any issues with brand new 2 year old outboard?

All I can tell you is that right now...and for the last 5 years at least...I’m confident that there isn’t a better 115 on the planet than the merc 115 2.1l CT model. Even better still...the pro Xs version. Certain of it.

I’d love to run into Jock one day, haha.

It did once actually. We still talk about that one day 😂

Clearing salt build up from block

Not as simple as that really. Used to run a steam ship engine room years ago. Daily testing was required of the water. Very controlled and regulated system by means of chemical dosing. But we digress a little. Haha.

Clearing salt build up from block

Lots to consider then. Had no idea this would require so much thought...especially around the beer !!

Clearing salt build up from block

Haha. Excellent...More accurate for me, would be 7 running, one blocked with salt and one missing a mid section from it. Call it 7 and two halves as we are now, haha.
