  1. Q

    Prop size

Must be up to the country sold in them...because every single account I know of here, when buying a new outboard, the dealer will give you the prop you want for it, or offer to exchange it after a sea trial, or if they fitted it...they prop it to suit. They ask you what prop you want with it...
  2. Q

    Prop size

There isn’t such a thing. Boats are propped to suit the overall package. So a 70hp on a 20ft cruiser or cuddy would have a very different prop than a 70hp on a jon boat or small speedboat. The engine would be propped to suit the boat it’s on.

    Draining engine block - Merc MX 6.2 MPI/Bravo 3

To be honest...best advisory I’d think, is to fill with AF from new. If it hasn’t...the damage has already been done and results in the rust you mention, blocking drains. Better late than never though

    Draining engine block - Merc MX 6.2 MPI/Bravo 3

No doubt because they have not been left full of antifreeze over each winter.

    2004 mercury 200 hp optimax

As far as I know...110-130 would be acceptable to brilliant on the V6 optimax. Try another gauge. All the best.
  6. Q

    2004 mercury 200 hp optimax

Yeah. Just having used loads of gauges over the years. Unless it’s an expensive and regularly calibrated gauge. They can read as high or as low as 10-30 psi out from what I’ve seen. I’d almost be sure that If all 6 are showing similar readings...there is little chance that they are all...

    NEED Stern LIFT Prop Suggestions

Some machine texasmark. Goes so well for her unusually heavy hull. 1 of 15 ever made. Lucky to have her.

Mine on the pad...to demonstrate this exact point. Spot on TM

    NEED Stern LIFT Prop Suggestions

May be right. Hard to tell with the angles engine is at in pictures, but I think 1” up would be a sensible set up for your average speed boat. 2-3” would be high performance and with a pad set up. Hard to say...but I’m not sure it’s as much as 5” there to suggest it may be a short shaft. Would...

    New Boat

Yeah. Easily. The limiter is set at 6150 rpm. Give or take a few 10’s.

1994 SeaDoo SPi possible bad fuel problem

Get your thinking but not sure I could agree with the starting fluid idea. Not on a 2 stroke. Could easily go wrong quickly

    1990 4 hp yamaha 2 stroke

They are brilliant. Had the same issues. Carb clean twice and a diaphragm and it was all good. Also on a 3hp (called a Malta here)
  14. Q

    New Boat

Just saying that there is no way it did 6500
  15. Q

    NEED Stern LIFT Prop Suggestions

Height is set for pretty high performance at that height. Wouldn’t say it is wrong shaft length. It’s a performance hull guys. Has a flat pad on it.
  16. Q

    Bad Fuel Guage

Hi. Is the sender ladder set to the right size for the tank ? probably not your issue, but I know that lots of us European guys with US boats also get caught out with the wrong sender. European boats are the opposite range of resistance to US boats. But from memory us boats are 240-30. European...

1989 30hp yamaha leaking lower unit oil

Just so I’m clear on the problem. When you say it leaks when you fill the unit...you mean when you fill the autolube tank with 2 stroke ? Or when you put oil in the gearbox (which might not be best described as “filling” ? If it’s the first option..then I’ll tell you what’s happening.

Low Voltage - Engine Voltage is low

Mpi are very sensitive to voltage. So much so that they can often turn over quite healthily but not try to fire. worst case and thinking pessimistic...you may have signs of water ingress loading up the cranking or on the verge of hydro locking
  19. Q

    Mercrusier 3.0 and 4.3 compatiblity

Engine mounts pattern are different, exhaust cow horns too. Big one is all dependent on gear ratio. Someone will tell you more than I...but I know that most 3.0 will be a 2-1 or 1.8-1. 4.3 will usually be a 1.6-1 or 1.8-1. Then the wild card is high altitude.
  20. Q

    New Boat

Just read original post again there. I think you need to go out again and get some accurate numbers. Your engine definitely didn’t do 6500 rpm for certain. All the best.
