    Transporting a 20' boat on a flatbed.

Depends on what yo intend to do with the boat afterwards. If you are parting it out just winch it on . If you intend to fix it Id try to use round fence posts etc as rollers to pull it on. Another option is to jack it up, put cribbing and cross bracing such that trailer can back under it to be...

Push rod cover gasket replacement and distributor

This shadow area behind the balancer doesn’t get painted at the factory. Worth wire brushing and painting even if there is no rust through

Push rod cover gasket replacement and distributor

You don't have to set dwell anymore. Did you use a petronix or other conversion kit or replace the whole distributor with a delco EST? if you used a points replacement kit, timing is set the same. if you used a delco est kit you need to put it in base mode first to set timing

2003 Ebbtide Mercruiser 3.0 engine rattle? Normal?

Yes but understand what all dodge was saying, unless you have an ingition system problem like weak coil bad cap and rotor or bad wires it should start with a .030 or .045” gap. Pull a plug crank and see if you have spark or as mentioned if you pour a little gas down carb or spray a touch of...

    Inboard replacing

Would bet if you get a 5.7 or 6.2 long block have one of the ECU programmers reprogram your ECU it would work well. All Dodge had recommended a place that does it was like $400 or maybe a tad more. Willing to bet unless you are jumping out of the water in a lighter boat like yours an alpha...

Upgrading boat? - Boat buying advice

I would think may be move up to a 20 or 21 ft BR. I have a 2004 Sea Ray 200 sport and my good friend who has an older Glastron 195 always comments how he prefers the ride of our boat. Its bigger & heavier (bigger engine and gas tank...) and has a steeper dead rise so it also has a bigger wake...

2003 Ebbtide Mercruiser 3.0 engine rattle? Normal?

If no fuel is in the carb that is the issue. Dump fuel down carb see if it starts for a bit. If it does ignition is ok work on fuel

    Inboard replacing

Yes but you get some really good top speed out of it. Conversely I have a 5.0 stock except for intake and Edelbrock 1409. Boat was originally a 4.3/2 blbl/190 hp, that PO cracked. I put the engine in kept the 1.81 ratio drive. Best speed with 22” enertia was 47, 21” rev 4 is 48. I run two large...

Drive oil container empty / sludge inside.

Yes if it was empty the alarm should have sounded. But sludge may hang up the float switch. As long as drive has lube at top you should be ok

Drive oil container empty / sludge inside.

On my gen two typically after refilling the drive I will see a pretty good drop in oil level first time out. I think its just air working its way out of the drive. I top it up and don't loose any more the rest of the season.

    Alpha 1 gen 1 with v8

If it were me I would run what I have to get the baseline established then you can tweak it from there. Usually 19" is a good starting point. Unless someone has changed the drive ratio typically they are geared by the boat builder such that 17"-21" props (power to cruise) will work.

How to Switch to Antifreeze Cooled Engine

Yep. The guy who bought my old boat didn't even ask me to turn it on or water test it....he had a similar boat with identical (3.0) drive train but rotted floor and roached interior. He said he was paying me ($3400 for a 25 yr old boat) less than it would cost him to redo his boat...he figured...
