think about this . prop turns clockwise in fwd when under power. If you were to turn the input shaft clockwise you will see the prop turn clockwise for fwd gear.

If you can do that ,you can reseal the upper this a alpha1 or the alpha gen II
Did the drive come off very easily? did you replace the gimbal gearing?
try tapping the tool end in all directions ,then pull
When removed drill a hole in the end or drill and tap for a eye bolt
dieseling or run-on is caused by;
high engine temps
poor octane/fuel
incorrect timing
shutting engine off at above idle speeds
usually after a sustained run you run the e=engine in neutral to dissipate the engine heat then return to idle and shut off
