Speakers in same compartment as gas tank?

Never seen a speaker spark, but you can enclose the speakers

    Life Jackets

I don't have one, so not required to use. I have a spare remote with one that's on my long to do list. Probably easier to wire in a stand alone switch though

    Damage During Winter Storage

Have them show you pictures of the torn shrink wrap and any other evidence that they have that it was animals. Nesting materials, etc. There probably is something in the contract limiting their liability, read through it. Your insurance would also have to show that it was animal damage.

    Life Jackets

I saw a guy yesterday ejected from his 21' bass boat after hitting a stump. Auto inflating vest and lanyard kill switch certainly made his life easier at least. Was almost enough to get me to wear a pfd on board and install (and use) a kill switch

tilt wires getting hot during lift?

Do we know what you're working on yet? Could also do a voltage drop test across various points in your wiring to see where the increased resistance is.

Upper Alpha one Gen 2 Replacement

Ujoints are also different in the pics--new one has internal clips. Wonder if the knuckle/input shaft is different to accommodate? If I wasn't on the phone I'd compare some part numbers...

    Alpa one Mercury MerCruiser

Mines 35 years old... They're pretty robust. Used ones around $150. I'd double check that the module is actually bad.

Please tell me you you didn't use your hands to do this.

Capri 175 with mercruiser 3.0 alpha won’t start

Don't worry, doesn't look like you have them. Have you started the boat before? First step is seeing whether you have spark and fuel. Pull the spark arrestor. See if the choke plate is closed. When you pump the throttle you should see gas squirted down the throat of the carb. You can also pour a...

    Thunderbolt V doesn’t advance timing

The ICM has an input for the water temp sensor, and output for the alarm. Not sure why it would be there if the ICM doesn't use that info. Disconnecting that wire should take that out of the equation. Also, the ICM uses an 8-10v signal from the KS module; it looks like it retards timing in the...

1989 Mercruiser 350 alpha one stalls when shifting

No, you need to replace both. To test, remove the lower shift cable from the plate, and move it manually. It should have essentially no resistance at all. Also, the plate can bind, so with the cable disconnected try moving the plate as well and make sure that it moves freely.

    Repowering a 87 20ft sportcraft open fisherman

Presumably if it could hold a 250 hp motor safely it would be rated for ... Wait for it...250 hp. What's the answer you're expecting here?

95 4.3lx alpha one mercruiser cooling system question

Hmm, I thought it was gallons. I couldn't find which manual it was in, though I remember it being somewhere. Where is it?

Throttle lever issues. Replace or repair

Sorry, misunderstood. Certainly a throttle issue, but you'd have to take it apart to find out what. Not familiar with the internals, but my wag is that there's a plastic gear in there that's worn. If the throttle doesn't "pop" back, then more likely a lubrication issue. Edit: still can't really...

Throttle lever issues. Replace or repair

If the problem is not going into reverse, you can raise the cable anchor to the top of the slot.

    Water in upper unit

I thought there was a plastic fitting there. Either way it seems that the gasket is secondary as far as keeping water out of the bellows, if needed at all

    Water in upper unit

I've always wondered what the bellhousing gasket contributes. Seems that quad ring should keep the water out of the bellows. Bellhousing gasket would keep water out of the shift shaft cavity. As would the upper shift shaft seal if course

    Ford 302 spark plug read

I'm thinking this is voodoo on a boat. Much more difficult than it seems to do it right. I had a discussion with Edelbrock tech a few years ago about tuning. Real tough to see if you've got the secondaries jetted correctly--in a car you do wot runs with fewer variables. Springs/rods are tough as...

    Mercruiser Shift Issues

Magnet doesn't look bad. That looks like water in the oil. Shouldn't take much effort to shift, next step is probably pressure test and separate the drive

Hopefully didn't get blown because you didn't add oil 😬
