    Does the tell tale fitting come off the side of the engine block ( exhaust cover ) or off the top of the block ??----Service bulletin in 1994 said to move it to the top !

    I agree with you , time to make an appointment at a shop.-----Note----A healthy tell tale does not mean motor is cooling properly.----The water from the tell tale has NOT gone through the motor.-----Your shop can explain !

    Charge the battery.----Have battery load tested.-----Pull starter apart for inspection.------Hopefully you installed a new water pump impeller .-----Need a much better video of that leak !!!

    Back in 1960 we lived in a rental farmhouse at $75 / month.----Today folks pay $1500 / month or more.----So oil at those prices is just the way of the world today !

    Post #63 and counting.----Put 7 drops of fuel into each sparkplug hole.-----Install sparkplugs.----Pull on starter cord a few times.-----Report exactly what happens !

    Did he correct the hot running issue ?-----Replace the impeller ?----Install a thermostat ?----Motors need a new impeller about evert 4 / 5 years.

    A round of applause for post #2.----I agree , these electric shift units are well engineered, easy to repair, elegantly simple and reliable.-----Just not well understood.------Dealer gave me a 1969 model 3 cylinder unit the other day.----Said there was no call for it on his lake.

    Agreed , this should be so simple.---And it appears there is only 1 cable ( throttle ) coming from the control box !-----All 1975 models were electric shift !!!

    I think any tiller handle from about 1960 to 1976 model 10 / 18 / 20 / 25 will fit.----Should be easy.

    Hot plugs have nothing to do with a motor starting.

    Is choke in the correct position ?--Adjusted correctly ?--Does choke solenoid work.---Are you operating choke switch while cranking it over?

    Stop cranking and cranking.----There is something wrong.----Look / test for the issue.-----A motor with things in order will start in 2 or 3 pulls.
