    Hot water heater

If you have a heater that is heating hot water to an even hotter level, then this would explain things. Tap dispenses the hot water before it gets hotter in the water heater?

    Bait and Livewell

I think someone should have been flunked from Marine Plumbing 101 if that happens. ;)

    Stern drive ID

For sure, the best inspection is to tear it down totally. Most people just drain the oil and look for contaminates such as water and metal particles.

    High Fuel Pressure

If the Mercruiser cooler is made of aluminum, I'd just de-paint it and use Alodine on all the exposed aluminum.

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

Lou, it's because of dumbasses. Case in point: This feature would have saved the gate at our transmitter site when my former boss hopped out of the vehicle to punch in the gate code without putting the vehicle in park. I eventually had to tell him that there was no way on God's green Earth that...

    Trim up wont work

A motor reversing relay pack relies on the opposite directions relays normally closed contacts as well. Try replacing the other relay too.

I often tell the GPS mistress, in my best George Bush accent, “Not gonna do it. Wouldn’t be prudent."

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

I would not call average life expectancy of 8-10 years, 100,000 - 200,000 miles at a cost of $2,000 to $8,000 a very long time nor easily replaced. I love my 300,000 mile 6,000 lb with 7500lb towing capacity roomy, quick diesel SUV that gets 26MPG and has cost me probably $2000 in repairs ever...

    Fuel pump issue

Agreed… in an automotive system. I am sure they have been used, but every marine EFI I have had experience with uses a single connection supply from the tank and that is all. I figure they don’t want yet another line to possibly cause hazards or since the tank might be well insulated and buried...

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

Hybrids on automobiles only work marginally due to regenerative braking. Proponents never recognize the severely limiting factor that pushes a hybrid automobile down the cliff into the valley of stupidity ideas…. That battery pack will need replacement far before the engine on a conventional...

    Engine Not Running

Oh! The fuel cooler! Yeah, that isn’t a float bowl. How old is the fuel you are attempting to burn? Is it free of water?

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

Bold claims. 30 minutes at what power level and how many Ah battery at what voltage? I guarantee an equivalent weight in gasoline or diesel will get you much farther and much longer and be easily refilled at somewhere around a bazillion percent more places. That being written, I imagine some...

    Merc 5.7 Hiccup

I am trying to remember exactly how the thunderbolt V works. Does it have a flyweight advance mechanism in the distributor or is it electronic depending on RPM?

    Engine Not Running

Adding to the questions, what kind of EFI system uses a float bowl? I am intrigued.

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

My latest pet peeve is the people who warn me that *I* have to be patient because their precious little prince or princess is driving like a fool in rush hour traffic with very little if any driving experience due to them being a "new driver".

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

Flip side of that is our '16 GL350 that doesn't have an "off" mode. Nothing says, "I'm a jerk" more than sitting in a parking lot at night, facing people waiting to get into some restaurant and having no choice but to have the lights in their faces if we want to stay warm. Then one day we...

    Fuel pump issue

Is this fuel injected? I've never seen a fuel injected marine engine fuel pump that did not circulate raw water through it to cool it.

    Fuel pump issue

Oh… this is an electric pump! I thought this was the regular mechanical pump such as what would be on a carburetor engine. Yeah, electric pumps don’t like getting hot.

Trailer bearing blowout. Need help with repair(s)

A buddy, that had a Baja converted his to oil filled bearings. He seemed to like them. I guess it’s good to be able to glance down to make sure there’s oil in them, but I would not want them simply because it would be a nightmare servicing them on the side of the road if something happened.
