    the pinion is toast, the dog clutch is toast. with that much metal running around in the gear case, assume the bearings are toast.

    its worth more sentimentally to you than it would be to restore to flip. cool little boat. I would restore it just for the cool factor. would make a fun little dinghy sitting on the swim platform of a 50 footer.

    pull the elbow. look at the joint faces. not the outside of it. you are in troubleshooting mode. you have about a day to clean that water out of the motor and either have the motor running, or need to flush all the surfaces with alcohol then oil until you get it running.

    measure compression, post all numbers here measure fuel pressure, post all numbers here. what is your ECT. should be in the 170 range

    gasket looks fine. looks like vortec intake gasket. the heat exchanger is only a half system, so the manifolds would only last a few years in salt water. post a pic of the manifold to riser joint.

    No. That is a guaranteed freeze busted motor Follow the factory service manual Always drain the whole system (exhaust, block, hoses, etc) after you change oil, etc, do the annual drive service After draining, if you desire to add antifreeze, add it with a funnel

    jet boats will bounce off big rocks and suck up small rocks, however are generally better for skinny water than a standard outboard. you do loose a lot of efficiency mud motors still have a prop, prop may still hit rocks. Most are lawn and garden motors with a tail fitted, so sound deadening...

    Since you already yanked the intake, you can not pressure test. Pull the exhaust. If you have rust streaks in the ports, then you have leaking exhaust manifolds I myself would be pulling the motor and do a full teardown and inspection
