    replace the cables. stiff cables with an alpha will trip the shift interupt. which may cause it to stall while shifting. stiff upper cables are usually an indication of the boat being submerged. However they generally last about 15 years. your boat is coming up on 18

    no, marine plugs are not same as auto. marine plugs are nickle plated. spark arrestor cover has the AC delco numbers on it. if running NGKs The BR6FS is for non-votec heads, the BPR6EFS is for votec heads if running AC delcos, AC-MR43T for non-vortec heads AC - MR43LTS for vortec heads...

    doesnt help that the center tower doesnt have the coil wire on it. however since the parts lists for the AQ260A shows a resistor to the dizzy, I am leaning towards points - at least originally. but the motor may have been played with a bit over the past 39 years.

    Original pump is a Carter/airtex. About $80 Nothing wrong with the Carter universal in the pic (I have been using them for decades). Use 90 degree fittings and you probably won't need to do anything but tweek your existing lines Nothing good comes from chineseum knockoffs from amazon.

    Pull the shift cover off and make sure it's adjusted right per the factory manual If you ran low on gear oil, you could have toasted the cone clutches
