1979 Mercury 80 HP power trim

Gee, jumper the up solenoid at the pump reservoir so it runs. See how high it goes. If not all the way up, something mechanical is amiss. Watch those dog ear-shaped manual tilt locks as they can bind up the triple clamp. Merc did make PTT units for lower HP motors, say the popular...

    High-Speed Jet NLA??

It sounds like the slot for the screwdriver is partially stripped. Normally that does not damage the jets. If the hole thru the brass jet is rough, that could be an issue. Some of those carbs have intermediate air orifices, w/o air filters. I have found that they can clog. You might clean...

1979 Mercury 80 HP power trim

I did not really understand your post. However, wiring for your PTT system is real simple without the trim limit switch. The PTT pump/reservoir is connected by dedicated battery cables to the battery. The pump/reservoir body is connected to the ground cable, as is the black lead from the PTT...

Fuel Pump for 1997 9.9 mercury four stroke

They seem to be pretty scarce. Here is one from the UK (I think). https://ouboaen.com/825470t One from Wisconsin: https://www.2040-parts.com/825470-fuel-pump-mercury-outboards-9-9-hp-4-stroke-1995-1998-i1380848/ Some rebuild parts are at Marineengine.com If truly a Yamaha part, you will need...

    High-Speed Jet NLA??

Gee, the main carb jet for your motor is: https://www.crowleymarine.com/evinrude/products/0328543-58d-orifice It is still D/C, so you would need to look at the used/junk parts arena. Why do you need new ones? They never wear out.

    2019 4.3 Mercruiser/Alpha One Outdrive

Normally the dia of a prop is set by the OEM, and you pick one based on pitch. I am therefore not sure how much choice of dia you will have. Your RPM and speed numbers are very unusual. Not many 4.3L engines can swing a 23P prop at 6000 RPM and only get 32MPH. I would think you need to...

1979 Mercury 80 HP power trim

The purple and blue wires are for the trim limit switch. Your original PTT panel had the three buttons. Maybe the top button is bad? They are good quality switches, but not indestructible. You can pull the rubber off the switch and see and maybe repair it. You will need a heavy-duty...

    Stripped threads on carburetor

If you have sufficient room on the carb body, you could drill and retap for a flush bushing. You would need to find a flush bushing that fits the fuel line, and get the right tap and drill for the male part of the flush bushing.

My 1998 Seaswirl boat wiring harness has a lot of corrosion in the 12+ pin connector

I am having trouble with the subject. The corrosion has restricted the power and likely ground at the connecter to the boat part of the harness. The engine harness seems fine. Are there any boat wiring harness plugs that are recommended to replace those. Do the pins for the replacement...

    Trim pump wiring help

Bartone, If I understood correctly, you have the older "pump/reservoir in the boat" style PTT system. Those systems have one or two solenoids. They often have a trim limit switch as well. Here is a pic of how the wiring came from the factory, on a one solenoid system. If you have two...

    1998 115 (E115SLECM) VRO leaking fuel

I had the same issue. My '98 Johnny OMS pump was leaking raw fuel. Being that it was 27 years old, I replaced it. Upon further review, the oring where the raw fuel line attaches was leaking.

No Power to Sparkplugs. Any advice appreciated

On that ignition system, the magnets on the flywheel swing past the stator inducing voltage to the rectifier and the two switchboxes directly under them. The rectifier only charges the battery. The trigger under the flywheel tells the switchboxes to fire the coil and spark is produced...

A simple gps or fishfinder comes to mind, based on the small number of connections.

200 HP Evinrude/Johnson Carb Kit and Rebuild

Gee, I think what the mechanic told you is utter crap. You should never need to drain the carbs. The motor should start in 10 sec. I don't even drain the carbs over winter, and never have any issues with them.

200 HP Evinrude/Johnson Carb Kit and Rebuild

1/2 of the idle pocket covers on the throttle bodies are easy to get to as they are on the outside. The other throttle bodies have the pockets on the inside and must be removed to get to 'em. Most carb kits will come with the two cover gaskets per throttle body, plus the gaskets and seals for...

    Inconsistent performance 84' blackmax 150

Most any water separator for a boat will work. Most are 20GPH, which is a lot more than you need. Water is separated by gravity, and the gasoline above it is filtered, much more than the dinky screens or inline filter that came with the motor.

200 HP Evinrude/Johnson Carb Kit and Rebuild

Check the carb bowls for warpage. Those plastic ones often warp and then leak. Some of those carbs have the idle mixture needle in the throttle bodies. They often have covers over them. These covers can be removed and the idle needle and passages cleaned, without removal of the needle. Some...
