Where you buy gasoline is critical.

I use 87 semi ethanol and also buy the cheapest gas from the local Indian reservation, which has always had a unwarranted rap for water in there tanks . Transfer that gas into a few different boats and never ever had a problem with it. Boats don't sit around ,I use them . No gummed up carbs ...

    Bilge sump question

One possibility is the top half of the hull , ( the part above the rubrail ) has water intrusion. The source could be the rubrail , or any part that is bolted or screwed into the upper part of the hull and is not sealed correctly. That water will find its way to the inner hull . Previous...

    Bilge sump question

Doesn't look like the depressed area was done at the factory . Pretty shoddy workmanship . I would think the sump area cut out would of been finished, gel coated like the rest of the sump area . Looks like someone used a hole saw ,overlapped it and cut the top of the finished gel coat / " floor...

    Help finding a boat

Agree , the " swoosh " on the hull side near the stern is there trademark look . Just like Nike uses one to identify there product . Chaparral, could be what it was named or a model name for that hull .

What Year is My Boat 14’ Aluminum Mirro Craft

H-ull I-denification N- umber ,HIN did not start until 1972 , so you are probably looking at the MFG ID or serial number . If it was a HIN then yes , the last two digits are the mfg date . Try fiberglassics .com / library forum . They may have enough specific info about the hull that you can...

    1970-1971 seabird 19

    opinions...snake oil ?or legit.?

Well I Googled it , and it came up., still need anti fouling paint for the hull . The " technology " for that is 30 years old , so it's being re - marketed IMHO . I could see using it on 30' + twin screw salt water boat with all the running gear and through hull fittings they have . Pontoon...

    Can’t Figure out Prop ….

All these comparisons without knowing what gear ratios might be in the outdrive are useless. Who knows if the OPs was swapped out or if his boat is waterlogged with 80 psi for compression numbers . As mentioned OP needs his RPMs # with appropriate load before anyone should be making...

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

Don't buy the " marine " oil , nothing but snake oil sales pitch . Gears are gears and any 90 Wt will work, probably comes from the same refinery , assembly line as the " Mercruiser " oil to begin with.

Buying an '03 Sea Ray Sundeck 220

I would be hesitant to not bother with muffs and run it dry . Not sure if you have a heat exchanger or where your impeller is located . Not fun to find all the remnants of the impeller jammed into who knows where . Or what that does to the impeller housing ,base plate . As noted above , main...

    Insurance for older boats

If you have it surveyed, make sure it's done by a accredited person . I believe there are two different ones they will accept. SAMS comes to mind , can't remember the other one .Most insurance companies require that .
