Wix filter cross reference for VP 4.3?

Makes sense. It takes a lot of power to generate 2000 psi. My Ranger's is in the same location, but under the valve cover. There have been some complaints about gasoline in the Ranger's oil due to pump leakage. Mine doesn't use or make oil, so look for other things to worry about. I looked up my...

Wix filter cross reference for VP 4.3?

Yes. I love my DI engine. Instant start, hot or cold, even after winter layover. Even though the pump shown is listed for my engine, it doesn't look the same as mine. Last fall I removed the tank hose to run 2 stroke premix to winterize. The inlet is an npt barb elbow on top starboard above the...

    Boat trailer brakes

Doing an autopsy theory on your calamity. It sounds like a chain reaction failure. Wheel bearing failed causing the wheel to come off. The extra load in the second axle may have caused the leaf spring to fail. I'm SWAGING 6000# for the boat, gear and fuel, 1500# for the trailer. 7500# total. If...

Wix filter cross reference for VP 4.3?

It is. I looked it up. Appears to have both low pressure tank transfer and high pressure pumps in the assembly. It would be interesting to know if the second pump generates the 2000 psi for direct, in cylinder injection near TDC, just before spark. My direct injected ranger has a cam driven...

Wix filter cross reference for VP 4.3?

Thanks. I found the above at Napa (Wix 33247) and 7186 (Wix 57186) oil filter drop in cartridge. Per @dingbat above, I toe the line on OEM vs aftermarket on critical parts. But boat builders don't make their own bearings, filters etc. I used automotive spin on oil filters on my previous Merc 4.3...

Wix filter cross reference for VP 4.3?

I'm prepping for the first engine maintenance on my latest Gen VP 4.3. s/n is in my sig. OK, I'm a bit lazy and could do the cross ref myself, but figure someone else has already done the work. Per Dr. @Scott Danforth , who I recall said Wix filters or nothing. Need fuel and oil filter p/ns...

    Darn Mice Can Be Expensive

Mud wasp nest are everywhere at our main place and river house, mostly under the eaves and in the gutters. Bees and wasps don't bother me much. Ignore them, and they'll ignore you. (Yellow jacket's...not so much). But wife, daughter and other females freak out. So when I'm called into action I...

    Darn Mice Can Be Expensive

Mouse poison also poisons dogs. My river neighbor puts out Bobcat in his garage and basement. The first time my dog Zeke got into it the Vet's puke med turned up clean. The second time neighbor Jerry and I force fed Zeke some hydrogen peroxide. Green chunks came up. I told Jerry it's on me to...

    Snap On Boat Cover

My new Regal's Ameritex cover is worth the big money I paid for it. But it has the same issue. If I pay attention when I put the cover on, most of the leakage drains outside. I'm pretty handy with sewing machine and my Speedy Stitcher, so when I get the time I'm going to make and attach four...

    Grease on rims

Bearing Buddies aren't too expensive, and worth any extra cost. Also get their 'condom' rubber caps. No grease stains.

    Need another Motorcycle...

Also @Bob_VT. I joined the Kawasaki Triples FB group for insight, NOS parts, etc. There is quite a following/cult for these vintage bikes. And SD, so true about the wimpy frames vs power. I bought my 500 when I was 21. But I never had the nads to pull up serious wheelies. I tried fast curves...

    Need another Motorcycle...

Still have my second, and last bike. 1975 Kawasaki H1F 500 2 stroke triple. It ran fine 12 yrs ago before we bought our river house. It's been sleeping in the garage since due to numerous projects at the river place. Soon I'll take the plugs out and see if it even kicks over....without puking 2...

    facebook and all the misinformation

I've gone to Youtube for help and found it. But you need to have some subject knowledge so you can sift out the junk. Most recent was applying knock down drywall texture. "The Kilted Guy" was a little weird, but his process was solid. Also home appliance repair vids aren't bad. Often there is a...

    My winter cover solution

Ventilation is important, especially if you store outdoors. I made a pair of PVC "J" pipes. These hung over the gunnels in the rear with the short leg inside the boat and the long leg reaching below the cover.

Re-post of Boomyal's Brined Turkey Recipe!

I keep the bird in the marinade in the fridge until I put it into the roast pan. I time thawing the bird so it soaks just the right number of days before roasting.

    Darn Mice Can Be Expensive

I've never had a problem with mice in my boats in winter layover. I started by laying trays of mothballs, now dryer sheets. I don't know if these did any good, but once I figure where to place dryer sheets in the Ranger, I'll do it. Thinking back I saw this coming. I keep my tools in the truck...

    Darn Mice Can Be Expensive

Summer '21 I noticed an unusual rumble from the truck's blower motor when I turned the A/C to max. Not normal, but I was too busy to see the dealer's shop. Warranty good for another year. Mid summer this year the MIL lamp went on. Code was a generic EVAP issue. So I took it to the dealer...

    Wing Dam Carnage

The bullet nose had a dent that leaked the lube. ...prop shaft was bent. A few years after this I hit a large submerged log in deep water. Another bent prop shaft. So now I mostly use aluminum props. They tend to sacrifice themselves and keep the prop shaft straight.
