    On a 4-stroke when the valves timing is off, yeah maybe On a 2-stroke?? I can only see this happening if the (intake reeds are seized solid/melted-on???) but then it would be in a scenario as your post #5

    IF the motor is not for a looooong time in the water; NO OR shave down the Anode Yup, just the two screws and wiggle off the shaft.

    The 4" diameter is force prop. the 4.25 would be for Merc. and others?? The gap between the prop would be a problem IF this was a flow-through lower-unit due to the fumes leaking through the gap. But this is not so for that reason; you'd be okay Now just hoping you're not picking-up fish-lines...

    My solution was a solar panel charged my deep cycle & my starting battery was charged by the motor with a rectifier/regulator; never had a problem after that

    As jerryjerry mentioned don't use a deep cycle & regular starting battery, they have different charging rate ( absorb voltage) Your best solution(in my opinion) is to get a rectifier/regulator that can handle the max output of the stator, their relative cheap & available ($40) This will solve...

    Sounds like a "weak/faulty" starter and/or bad ground wire

    So true, if it wasn't for those pesky plug gasket/0-rings that never completely seal :{ I think also any failures (upper driveshaft bearing) are that the oil-level is not kept to its max
