There are several bolts that hold the cover onto the head.....but all the head bolts go through the cover, so the head bolts will have to come out to get the cover off.

Need to do something about the water in the cylinder......checked that part # on marineengine.com, that # is for a gasket....after 3 or 4 part number revisions it is listed as a sealer only...they show to use Loctite 587 Blue instead of a gasket for the head cover.

What is the PURPOSE of Outboard Cylinder Drain Reed Plate (see pic)

The check valve is built into the fitting the hose pushes onto on the dog bone.....might spray some carb cleaner in there to clean it.....take the boat out and see how it does on the water, under load. Sometimes it runs great in the driveway, and different on the water.

Running at idle on muffs for extended periods, the plugs tend to get fouled....and without a thermostat will make it worse since engine will not be at proper operating temp. A good Italian tune up on the water will clear it up usually.....

What is the PURPOSE of Outboard Cylinder Drain Reed Plate (see pic)

What is the PURPOSE of Outboard Cylinder Drain Reed Plate (see pic)

It's a cover for the recirculation system, referred to as the "dog bone". The recirc system takes unburned/excess fuel from each cylinder and routes it up to the intake where it is run through again. Can cause issues if it becomes plugged up....poor idle, sluggishness, etc.

The 30 something year old faucet in my shop's bathroom started dripping, so I took the old valve stem and seat/spring down to the local Ace hardware to see if I could find the parts.....had no idea what brand or model the faucet was. The Ace guy took a pic of the stem using their app.....the...

How to take out rounded drain plug on force 85? Is there a way to drain without taking it out? Like pumping out the fluid maybe?

Could maybe use an extractor a little larger than the stripped out hole, tap it in, twist it out. Corrosion shouldn't be an issue, being a lube plug.

How to take out rounded drain plug on force 85? Is there a way to drain without taking it out? Like pumping out the fluid maybe?

It may be the type that uses an allen wrench to remove.....not a slotted type.
