most likely you will need to cut the harness back and re-terminate.
easy to do with the correct terminals.
to pull the terminals out of the receptacle, you need to insert the proper tool to release the tab
Im thinking the pitch/diamter is backwards on the OP's statement.
aluminum is 14-1/2" dia, 18P
and the SS is 15-1/4" dia, 18p
the alpha drive wont allow larger than a 15-1/2"
generally 4-blade props are even pitches, so going to assume the 18 is pitch
did you pressure test when it was empty of oil?
If not, keep adding oil until its on the dipstick. then monitor. if it continues to drop, you have a bad seal
IAC should not be open that far. usually about 40-50
the 5.0 being read at 4.23 means something is drawing down the 5.0 reference. could be a bad ground in the harness
its just one of many of Jimmys fleet of boats. he also had a Westport that was being serviced down at Rybovich, and about 5 in the evening, he would do an impromptu show for the Rybovich crew working on his boat.
the labeling is what i figured.
thanks for that.
and at 1100+ is why when the raw water stops flowing, the rubber exhaust couplings that have a 250 F max turn into crispy critters...... its also why I run silicone/nomex hose vs the rubber.
good news on getting what ever flow obstruction in...
well, the replacement that Amazon supposedly sent on Saturday still has not shipped. the one I ordered last night shows it shipped and is out for delivery.
and people wonder why I am constantly muttering "amazon sucks"
To top it off, I am chasing a fed ex package that has been sitting in...
you test fuel pressure with a mechanical pressure gauge at the schroeder valve
verify the crab cap is in good order. get a new one if the old one is more than a year old
test compression with a known good gauge. should be between 140 and 150 psi on all cylinders
it could be a throttle linkage issue
it could be a fuel system issue
it could be a wrong prop issue
it could be an ignition issue
what troubleshooting has been done?
compression test?
fuel pressure?
does your motor have the crab cap?
are the injectors from Mercruiser or ebay or amazon?
the hoses could have deteriorated, the new hoses are more tolerant of E10 than the hosed that were in your boat 35 years ago, however the hoses only last about 20 years
do not use the boat until you find the fuel leak
Ted, Im not an expert, just trying to wrap my head around some of the goofy crap from Fond du Lac
do you have the schematic of the glycol side plumbing?
i can see the manifold exit to the expansion tank in the pics. I assume the lower hose in just under the center cylinders is the supply for...
doubt its the temp sender causing the issue.
did your temp follow the sender or stay with the motor, your post is not clear there.
hunting at idle is usually the IAC. what is the IAC showing on both motors.
easiest un-obstructed access to the bottom of such a light boat is to use the two transom eyes and the bow eye and hang the boat from the rafters of the garage.
secondaries on a rochester open by air flow from the engine. there is no mechanical connection to the rochester secondaries.
if you do have a rochester, your boat is 1990 or older or someone put an old rochester on the motor or the motor has been replaced. Rochester quit building carbs in...
