    ‘77 Johnson 70hp Starter Troubleshooting

My bad. I looked it up. I was thinking master solenoid. Starter solenoid gets power.

Mercruiser 4.3 EFI leaking fuel but can't find leak??

Could it becoming from the fuel pump? The 4.3 EFI here had the pump conveniently located on the port side behind the motor mount with a plastic cover hiding it. There wasn’t any access to inspect it. Replacing it required the motor to be lifted.

    Oil selection

I tried to attach the manual on my phone but the file is too big. It should be available for download on the Volvo Penta website.

    ‘77 Johnson 70hp Starter Troubleshooting

“Cleaned all connectors to super shiny (terminals from battery to solenoid, battery to ground, solenoid to starter, etc.).” What about the nuts, bolts, washers and engine surfaces where these connectors connect?

It is a major boating holiday.

I had to go to the dock and top off a SeaStar unit Sunday morning otherwise I stayed far away from town and the lake all weekend. What they broke over the weekend will start showing up this afternoon or tomorrow so gotta go fishing while I can. I would have been out for 2-3 hours already if I...

    Cicada

My dog finds one intact just about every time we walk. Of course they don’t remain intact for long. The bugger loves to eat them.

    Solar charged battery question

Bad stretch of wire maybe. I might try splicing in a pigtail of different wire to see how it does if was mine. The wire size should not matter unless it is heating up because of too much current.

    Malfunction indicator Light constant on

Thanks for the information on the differences between diagnostic systems. I have YDS and SDS software on my laptop which is nearly impossible to use outside because of screen limitations so I understand that issue with Diacom. I stumbled across a thread that suggested that I could use my...

    Malfunction indicator Light constant on

None specifically. The standards should be the same but how many boat mechanics are taught from day one that someone could die if they half-a$$ a job? They should be because sterndrives blow up on a regular basis. Most seem to be due to shoddy maintenance and/or using auto parts instead of marine.

How much pressure on a pressure pot to cast something like this? I use a pressure pot to pre-oil engines but it’s easy enough to clean out for other uses.

    Malfunction indicator Light constant on

Interesting, I will have to let the head mechanic at the best dealership/shop in the area know he is running a shade tree operation. He is a certified Volvo Penta technician. I use a TechMate from Rhinda. I don’t know what it doesn’t do that Diacom does. It reads codes and provides real time...

    Tritoon restoration

I just remembered. I have in my possession a recent written quote from a Bennington dealer to replace a starboard 22’ pontoon. $7635.70. The log and shipping from Minnesota was $6105.36. They would bolt that one on.

    Tritoon restoration

More common around here to cut off the old and weld on the new BUT I do not know if they are OEM or aftermarket logs being used or just buying from the nearest manufacturer to save shipping. The SilverWave plant is a lot closer to me than Harris.

    Tritoon restoration

Swapping logs shouldn’t be a problem other than cost. New logs aren’t cheap and nearly as expensive to ship. I know a welder who would cut off the hangers and weld them to the new if they have to be reused. I don’t know what he would charge but he has done a lot of welding for me and always...
