    No choke on the OP's model. Uses an automatic enrichment device known as Primestart. Pressing the key in does nothing.

    What is the engine serial number? Some fuel pressure regulators are plumbed to the intake manifold and some are simply vented to the atmosphere. Perhaps vented through the hose.

    What is the engine serial number? If you check the Mercury parts catalog I suspect that you will see that the carburetors have different part numbers. To indicate which carburetor goes into which position.

    I am guessing 1987. Similar to a Yamaha CV40 or C40 model. Take a look at the carburetors and the CDI assembly. See what markings you find on them.
