    Man that is salty for what amounts to a 1/4" npt wye. You could order stainless pipe fittings from a place like mcmaster carr for a few bucks less

    Take the wiring harness off the switch (down above oil filter) and stick a jumper wire in the harness plug to jump across the two wire terminals. I keep a couple of short sections of wire for just this purpose in my tool kit on the boat.

    You are correct if it holds pressure drive isnt the issue. You will get a small amount of spillage at the poppet valve in bell housing when removing and installing the drive

    this …either switch is misadjusted or lower shift cable needs replacement. As the cable wears it take more force to shift and it can trip the shift interrupt. Disconnect lower shift cable from shift plate should shift easily by two finger grip. If not pull drive and diagnose

    Yes merc deleted the o ring on top of veritcal driveshaft so. Do not reinstall it, i wonder if your water tube is misaligned and thats why you cannot get the two havles back together

    Well it’s always the simple stuff … flame arrestor completely clogged with fuzz. Their mechanic just did cap rotor wires plugs can’t imagine he missed that. Water tested it seemed to be back to normal so didn’t get into the timing

    Did they clean out the fuel system ? There was gunk in fuel that polluted the carb, if the carb was rebuilt then ran contaminated gas through it again …

    I dont have one but I suspect it is the same for the newer 3.0s if you can get that spec. In absence of a spec I would tighten it from the inside out to the ends to 35 ft lbs and retorque after it gets hot. On my SBC I think the spec was 35 +/- 5 or so ft lbs. I believe they are grade 5 bolts...
