    Johnson 150 Rebuild/Remanufacture Guidance

    No......remove seal and o-ring. Place new bearing in freezer overnite. Place head on top of small coffee can. Pre-heat oven to 450° and insert. You will hear it fall out into can. Remove can and flip head over. Grab new bearing from freezer and drop in head. let cool and install new seal.

    Do not polish the shaft or flywheel !! Use some fine lapping compound to "lap" the taper to flywheel. Can be acquired at any good auto parts store.

    Those block dont like to be overheated as the aluminum will pull away from cylinder liner . This causes head gasket to leak compression into the cooling area, which as RPM increase the pressure will overcome the impeller flow.
