correct prop for 74 mercruiser 140hp

If hitting stuff is a common occurrence get a spare prop. Modular hub is better in my opinion but more personal preference as either works fine .

correct prop for 74 mercruiser 140hp

Better top end you need more hp… 38-40 mph is about all you will get on a 18 glass boat 3.0 , very similar to what i had out of my 17 ft sea ray 3.0. Enjoy it for what it is durable and economical…

    Winterization

One note on the PS cooler - on both my '90 3.0 and my current '04 5.0 the removing the ps cooler hose never drained any water, so now I just take the hose from it off the thermostat housing and back flush with 1/2 gal of AF in case there is any residual - it comes out the drive holes... really...

First time cleaning a carb, ruined the jets?

The internal bore is the important part as that is what meters the fuel so no the messed up slots wont hurt it. Just make sure any loose pieces are gone ... You need to modify two screw drivers - for the jet grind the tip down so it is fat enough and thick enough to fit in right. For the power...

    How bad is it.

The big water box is the intake/exhaust manifold. In 20 years of owning my 3.0 (bigger sibling to the 2.5) I almost never got any water out of the manifold, not sure if it would siphon out or if the boat wasn't level etc . Wouldn't worry about that... the chunks are normal for raw water cooled...
