    That screen shot is NOT from a factory manual..it a danged ole Selco. You don't go by what type/size wrench or socket fits the bolt..you go by the screw thread size... The values posted are correct so get you a screw gauge as head bolts are 5/16 not 3/8...

    Depends on builders definition of 'rebuilt". Rebuilt is replace and return engine to manufactures' repair specs. Honing ,pistons and rings is a refresh..a patch in my book and is a short lived repair depending block condition. A leakdown test as Racer described is best way to check it can tell...

    Not to add the carbon build up from improper fuel mixtures,cooling problems, oil and fuel brands as it builds up behind ring increasing ring tension.b Anytime one of theses motors show up at my place for any type of repairs a compression/leakdown is ran before I turn a bolt/nut on it.

    You have the 67ci (1098cc) Inline 4. Sorry but no upgrades as this motor was originally a 85HP.. then when BIA propshafted rated HP it became a 75. Dang good motor as long as as kept cooled and not dogged on RPM. Prop it to the high end 5800RPM for best performance

    Still I have never seen a 4 stroke outboard carbon the rings unless it uses oil. Maybe a saltydog thing
