    remove woodruff from tapered shaft?

By design you can’t over torque a taper fit. The nut simply keeps the hub from falling off the shaft. Removing a hub from a taper fit typically requires the use of a “puller” of some sort. As you have found you can go caveman and beat and pry the hub off at the risk of damaging other...

    Braid Knots

The figure 8 is a simple overhand knot partially pulled down. Guessing your matching line diameters but keep in mind that the ultimate breaking strength of the line is determined by knot strength of the weaker of the two lines. There are three advantage of braid do to its small diameter per...

    ....stocking up for Corona virus

Our company is considered essential services. Nothing changed for us over the past year except getting temp taken to access facilities and wear a face shield or mask around “concerned” customers. Really enjoyed the lack of people on the highways and airports as I traveled around the country...

Buying a used boat anxiety-talk me down.

The primary concern related to service life is the long term exposure to UV and ozone that has consequential effects on plastics (thru hulls), rubber (hoses) and vinyls (seats and tops) used in the construction of boats. You also have the issues of long term exposure to marine conditions, ie...

Is an aluminum steel prop better than stainless?

Stainless has a higher tensile strength which allows the designer to make lighter, thinner cross sections which create less resistance. Stainless is also tougher which holds up better to wear and tear. The leading edges on my SS prop are still sharp and crisp after 3 seasons in SW. The blades...

    Gps/compass

Marine devices output Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) that can cause inaccurate readings on nearby compasses. The safe distance for the Compass should be identified in your GPS manual. If you have a (good) compass with adequate compensation abilities you may have a chance. Otherwise, there...

Washing interior with boat in slip/water?

If you like the wax you so painstakingly applied prior to putting the boat in the water don't use a "soap" with detergent in it. My favorite.........been using it for years https://www.iboats.com/shop/h-m-boat-soap.html

Tilt only works making a left turn

Sounds like the wire (cable) from the throttle switch back to the motor switch is damaged. Guessing the insulation is worn through from rubbing on something. I would focus in the area where the wire (cable) enters the motor. Pull the throttle switch and check for continuity as you move the...

    Winner manufacturer and parts

For the most part, boat builders fabricate the hull and outsource everything else to third party suppliers, drive systems included. Given the age of your boat, direct replacement parts are going to be hard, if not impossible to find for your boat. Some information on Winner can be found here...

    Shore Power Recommendation

Battery life is proportional to depth of discharge. Anything below 50% discharge is detrimental to battery life. Having said that, the charger needs to be sized to the load and the amount of time you have to charge them. It would take 6.5 hours to charge 65 AH (2 batteries @ 50% discharge)...
