    actually, gaps got bigger to ignite leaner mixes to pass emissions. combustion chamber design and shape determines speed of flame propagation needed. that in turn determines which gap is needed to balance nox, power, detonation based on fuel BTU, compression ratio, etc.

    what is your timing at 3000 RPM. should be 20 + base timing or 22 + base timing or 24+ base timing (depending on which module) if that is working, then its simply fuel related. or more importanly..... Lack of fuel. test the fuel pressure.

    Buddy has a 18' pontoon, 35hp motor. moves same as it did with a 25hp 30 years ago. all of 14-15mph.... on a 7 mile long lake, would take 30 minutes to get to the other end. you may want to check your math there. to do 7 miles in 1.5 hrs is needing to be running 4.67mph to do it in 1 hour...
