make sure the valve covers are not distorted. the main reason chevy went from perimeter to center valve cover bolts is to prevent leaks
you may have to take a hammer and your work bench and straighten out the valve cover tinwork.

you keep the main motor trimmed down to add drag to the back so that the boat goes where you need it to go when you use the trolling motor.

remember, if the distributor was ever removed, you will need to verify tower 1's location on the distributor. with motor at TDC on cylinder #1, the rotor will be pointing to tower #1
Agree with above. Find the leak. If it's not leaking into the bilge, it's the $50 cooler

To make a road, or dig a foundation you are into something bigger than a mini excavator.
A mini is great for trenching, digging along your foundation to waterproof. However building a road would be like painting a house with a toothbrush
