    Nope.-----Look at parts manuals and you will find that the pump from a 1976 model 25 HP will bolt right on.---Diaphragm material from say a1966 model 100 HP pump can be used to cut one for your pump.-----You seem reluctant to tackle simple jobs .----I think I will step aside on this one.

    These pumps operate with a PRESSURE pulse.----There are many pumps that will fit / work on your 18 HP.----Do not limit your search to the 65 model year !!----A diaphragm is easy to make.----Take pump apart and see what it might need.---No need to be scared of a simple pump.

    Somebody was not aware that the bearing carrier has a left hand thread.----That is how it was damaged.-----If the internal bits are good then install a prop and go fishing !

    You can get a new gasket for the cover.----Don't rush out and buy a new pump.----In my opinion these PRESSURE operated pumps are easy to inspect and repair.

    That advisory was for the 56 cube 3 cylinder motors !!----It does not apply to the V_4 models !

    You put extreme load on on the lower ball bearing.-----And you forced the driveshaft down so that it could not move up.-----This results in the pinion and forward gear not meshing properly !!----Easy to correct all this.----Do not run the motor without making corrections.

    And how did you diagnose that powerpack is bad ?-----Some testing done or your neighbor said ---" must be the powerpack "-----If flywheel does not spin fast there is a " no spark " condition.-------Look this motor over carefully and post compression values BEFORE spending any beer tokens on it.

    When operating in and around the docks the rule is ----GO SLOW ----So if you have lines ready and a boat hook there should be no issue.

    Well----Look again for the fill and drain plugs.-----When filling the gearcase you fill from the bottom till oil comes out the top ( vent ) screw.-----Then again it might be best to have your dealer do this.---And install a new water pump impeller too.-----So easy to make expensive mistakes on...

    Rod bearings were bigger on the 7.5 HP compared to the 5.5 HP.-----There also was some issues with the smaller pressure tank and ability of folks to understand mixing.-------One quart to the 6 gallon tank or 1 quart to the 3 gallon tank.

    Bypass cover is 6 wee bolts and a $4.00 gasket.----Not an " involved " inspection in my opinion.

    There is no difference.----Except for any minor changes ( paint color ) that occurred mid production run.-----------Install a new water pump impeller and test the overheat horn before launching the boat.

    No such thing as " too much compression" on these.-----Charge the battery.-----Have the battery load tested.----Take starter apart for inspection of brushes.-----Do an ohm test on armature.-----No money spent to do this inspection !!!

    Gearcase compatibility - V4 Crossflow question

    The driveshaft spline count has been the same on V-4 and V-6 ( also those V-8 1986 to end ) motors from 1973 to year 2005 or so.-----But the length of that spline and seal arrangement on end of crankshaft changed.-----So if you back off all the bolts 2 turns does flywheel turn easier ????

    It should work.----Might have to change out the pinion on the starter.

    Alarm horn @ 4600 rpm

    Is it a solid alarm ?----Have you replaced the water pump impeller ?----Running with VRO in service and tested ?----Yes , it could also be the fuel restriction alarm.-----Try bypassing or taking the 10 micron filter out as a test.
