    If it runs with key pushed in the fuel pump is working just fine.----If the motor sat for 5 years with mixed fuel in the carburetors , you need to clean the carburetors.-----Do not run the motor without cleaning the carburetors !

    Just use a product called ----HI-VIS gear oil.----Available at any boat shop / BRPP / Johnson / Evinrude dealer and perhaps even that " China Mart "------No point skimping on oil as saving a few beer tokens is not worth it.----Gears / bearings are expensive.

    The sealers mentioned have " low filler content " and most if not all will squeeze out.------This then results in a precision " metal to metal " joint.-----Then the bearings and reed blocks will be clamped up properly !

    RTV is not to be used on this or any outboard motor !!-----Use only Loctite- 518 or BRP product called " gel seal " on this joint.

    If maximum speed is 30 MPH there is something wrong with the engine.------You might want to revisit carburetor work on bottom one.----Labarynth seals OK ?-----Bottom seals replaced ?-----Reed valves OK ?---------What sealer did you use on the crank case joint ?

    Check the SHIFT SWITCH on the motor linkages.----Motor may be running on 3 cylinders.-----And a GOLDEN RULE with these motors is that carburetors must be confirmed clean.----No guessing here.-----A restricted carburetor means less fuel and less oil going in.----Damage to pistons may occur.

    Agreed-----Condition of engine is to be determined first.-----Post the numbers.-----Or remove bypass covers to inspect pistons / rings.-------Could be numerous other issues as well.
