    ???----Compression bleeds off quickly in any cylinder.---------Sounds like the check valve on your gauge is kaputt.-------Perhaps test with another gauge.

    This sounds expensive------Pull cylinder heads and look for issues with bad bearings.

    Correct there are 2 oil seals on bottom crankshaft bearing housing.---Replace them and perhaps the bottom ball bearing as well.

    Did copper tube come out with the pump , yes or no ?----If it came out , it needs to be installed into the exhaust housing first.----And in a bucket the water MUST be 6" above the impeller.

    Well there are some V-4 motors ( 60 degree loopers ) that are different.----Johnson / Evinrude parts are the same.----Your statement that " all Evinrudes are 1" shorter " is just nonsense to me.------Time to talk to a shop that is willing to help you find a lower unit !!

    A service bulletin came out in 1994 to move tell tale fitting from side of the block.-----A new location is on top of the block.----Latest water pump kit has all the details / instructions.----Before you spend another beer token , take the cylinder head of to inspect cylinder walls.

    Not sure I would trust those blinky testers.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more.-----Easy to make that test device with cardboard , glue and some wire.---With 70 PSI compression I would pull intake bypass covers and look at pistons / rings.-----Water pump impeller changed every 5 years or...

    Post the compression numbers.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on a test device.----Not a blinking light or on a sparkplug.----Are carburetors confirmed clean ?----Water pump impeller replaced ??

    Are you 100% sure carburetors will be FULL of oil , or just a little bit of oil ?????

    Well compression should be about 120 PSI or so.----Investigate that first.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more on a test device ?----Does fitting for tell tale hose come off the side of the block or the top ?-----Has water pump impeller been replaced about every 5 years or so ?
