    Sounds horrible to me.-----Stop the revving and hoping.-----Do a compression test.----Post your numbers.----Forget the blinky tester.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on a test device in open air??

    well----if in Canada use---------evinrudeparts.ca-----I believe you will need to believe that the 20 HP is essentially the same as the 25 HP !!!

    Well-----The 20 HP was marketed in Canada.-----Your local dealer would have the parts listing.----Or use the 25 HP listing for most parts.

    Sorry----In 66 the general public understood that you had to change impellers / visit the dealer.-----And yes there is very clear indicator for water pump function.----Many folks today are only able to push a button and wait for engine to start / run for them.

    The torque value is listed at 100 / 105 FT-LBS-----I post 102 FT-LBS just to see what comments are received.-----As you must know a torque wrench measures the resistance to turning of the fastener and stretching of the crankshaft..-----Condition of the threads / surfaces makes for the variables.

    You might run with a timing light to see if there is an ignition miss.-----But first check adjustment at the shift lever.------Side of the lower cowling.----And verify that both upper and lower shift rods are lined up with notches before screws are put in.

    Maybe check that thermostats are in place and not stuck open ??---The 94 model V-4 crossflow does not show adjustable low speed mixture needles on the carburetors.----And the oily plugs might be normal with lots of low speed running.

    Intermittent Starter

    Check the safety switch on the motor.--Prevents starter motor from cranking with throttle too far advanced.---Yes it will start in gear !----Switch might need cleaning.----Yes they are easy to clean.

    Agreed with the above post.-----You might forget that you put gear oil in another container.------Gear oil is cheap.------And if there is no water getting into the oil you do not have to change it every season if you run say 50 hrs.-------Many vehicles run for years and folks rarely change oil...
