    No the holes in the nipples are very small.------And fuel only flows if there is fuel pressure ( motor cranking ) to this simple valve.----Impossible to flood these motors with the wonderful primer valve.

    Stop.------You likely took it off with control in neutral.-----Then during your work it jumped into forward.--------So remove lower unit.------Turn shift rod with vice-grip to find neutral. and assemble.------Or put control in forward and lower unit in forward and assemble.-----No hammers...

    I have said it many times.----Wiring and 12 volts are much misunderstood.----Drop the bottom part of the magneto.----Just those 4 bolts.-----No need to worry about timing.----Clean breaker points and set at 0,008 / 0.010".-----Spin magneto by hand and look for spark.----Serial # of this motor...

    If I had to replace a VRO pump on one of those for myself I would fit 2 pumps.-----Use some off say a 1966 model 100 HP.----Simple pumps with filter / sediment bowl.

    In my opinion the VRO pump ( if equipped with that ) is very easy to inspect and repair.----Any other Pressure operated diaphragm pump is also easy to inspect and repair.----Have a go at it.

    If the lower unit was cracked from water freezing inside you might as well STOP.------Take lower unit apart or inspection.-----Might start looking for a used gearcase I say.
