    Yes there is a screw that you can tighten to make it harder to tilt up.-----Or there is a tapered friction block in the grip to make TURNING the grip harder, so it stays steady.

    I my opinion those compression numbers will not keep it from actually " running "-----Those compression numbers and slight scoring indicate to me that it will not run / idle well.----But some folks can only say ---" It runs so there is not much wrong "-----Sorry just my opinion here.

    Well----That might help you see and understand this simple procedure.----Might help on re-assembly.-----Do not turn the shift rod during this repair procedure.

    Stand on the starboard side of the motor.----Find the L-shaped shift lever below the bottom carburetor.-----Remove hitch pin on that shaft.-----Now push that shaft to the port side of the motor.----Rotate that shaft and shift rod is now disconnected.
