    as long as the gel is not scratched or cracked a good sanding with 320 grit will be enough if scratched, fill the scratches if cracked, you may have some fiberglass work first.

    there is no such thing as "standard" however if you are mixing vintages of motors and y-pipes, you have to be careful. post pictures of what you have. be specific about vintage of components.

    the standard screw is a #8. they make snaps with #10 screws and snaps without screws so you can use a machine screw and a nut if you can get access to the backside. get a snap without a screw and use a machine screw, backing washer and a nut. if you cant get access, try the #10 screw snaps...
