    My diagram is from a Ford 5.0 and 5.8 All (GM, FORD, Idmar , etc) ALT's except one wire ALT's use both a Sence and a Excite lead. The one wire types have both connections made internally. Don't know about your diagram so I'm unsure if it was left off because it was missed or something else...

    OK SN shows TBV ignition and TKS carb Yes you can remove wires one at a time to see if there is equal change. If one cylinder shows more change then others, I would do a compression test first. May not be a problem

    Its hardly ever the coil, they just don't fail. I think the ECM has a driver inside it that is drawing more current If you have to throw a coil at it it's made by AC Delco. Search for AC Delco 8M0054588 coil, and can find some on ebay much cheaper I would suggest contacting John at boats...

    The key switch being loose won't keep it from cranking, but if the switch has a bad connection inside this might be the issue. What most probable cause is the neutral safety switch (NSS). The NNS is inside the throttle handle, and if there is slop in the handle then it may not make connection...
