Blowby through vent tube? Mercruiser 3.7

running lean will burn a piston. could also be stuck rings, etc. I would drop a bore scope down the spark plug hole and look at the piston. I use the cheap ones you plug into your phone.

Blowby through vent tube? Mercruiser 3.7

if you have 30 hours on it, the rings should have seated. however if you had any moisture in the bores, there would be corrosion which would lead to blow by. compression test and leak down test will tell you what is going on. for $4k, you could have bought a brand new 6.2 liter V8

    Exhaust boot

the tube came about in 1988/1989 when Mercruiser put Big Blocks in front of the Alpha because the extra exhaust flow would blow out the bellows. the big blocks went away because the alpha drives would go "poof" and grenade and became a big warranty champagne while the Big Blocks in front of an...

    Boat won’t start

oil floats on the water. for that reason I use clear jugs for oil its usually not a head gasket since you had an overheat, I would pull the drive to do the annual PM: check alignment, check the gimbal bearing, check the u-joints, and then do a water pump job.

Owners Manual Stratos 2003 180 FS

you will have to look to where the water is coming from. if you have plastic thru-hulls I would start there. look at your garboard drain regarding the livewell system. most small boat live well systems are plastic fittings and plastic lines which last a maximum of 15 years. you will have...
