    Boat keeps porpoising.

to get optimum fuel economy, you need a fuel flow meter as the setting is dynamic based on engine RPM, load, throttle position, wind, current waves, how dirty your hull is, etc. regarding the speed - trim up until it starts to porpoise, then bump it down just a bit.

Draining The Oil On My 470?

its fixed because the tube is the whole dipstick tube, and the threaded portion is brazed on about 3/4" down from the end so the traditional dipstick handle works. I used to use a 1/2hp fluid transfer pump with a hose between the pump and the dipstick. the end of the hose was large enough to...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 Weak Link

in the case of RLP performance. it was because he wanted to because if you want performance to hit 100mph in a 21 foot boat, you want a shorter X dimension (less drag) and a custom foot (less drag) and a stand-off box (better bite). not just a bigger/heavier drive like switching to a Bravo...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 Weak Link

I know people with 383's putting 400-450hp into Alpha drives and doing is "successfully" in early 90's sausage boats on the great lakes. they are using kryo treated gears, however they have to watch the hole shot and use a rev limiter. successfully is also in quote, because one boat is on...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

the trim setting is dynamic and controlled by the operator depending on what the boat needs based on speed, load, condition, wind, etc. there is no set it and forget it. Ron Popiel did not invent the trim. if people sit in the back, more down. if people sit in the front, more up. that...
