    Lots of boats from USA have been shipped to places where folks have time and ambition , but little MONEY to fix them up.----Usually there is nothing wrong with the HULL material.------Just wood structure that needs the time input.-----But buyer BEWARE of hurricane damaged boats.

    Bleed restrictors in line 6 cylinder.

    Inline 3 , 4 and 6 cylinder bleed restrictors.------I use 8-32 stainless set screws.------Drill a 0.040" hole in the setscrew .------Drill and tap the block.---Install and peen the thread.-----Never to fall out again.

    Putting new rings into worn grooves on a 2 stroke is NOT a good idea.----Perhap E-bay with the part # will get you results for new pistons and rings.

    OMC sterndrives are not at the top of the hit parade.-----Many shops will not work on them.------But if you know tools and mechanical work it can work out for you.

    I say there is something wrong with your motor, yet you say that the starter works " perfectly "-----Maybe pull the motor apart to check the bearings.

    Checked the gear oil ?---Install a new impeller.----Check fuel pump diaphragms.---Load test your battery even if new.-----Take starter apart for inspection / cleaning.----Inspect battery cables.-----Check belt timing.

    The spark plugs were not mentioned when I suggested checking the maximum ignition output.---Use a spark testing device.---Fact---- a sheared flywheel key throws out the timing.----Perhaps remove bypass covers to inspect pistons and rings on the 40 year old motor.

    It just sounds " great to you " in your yard and it means nothing.-----Post your actual compression numbers.-------Does spark jump a gap of 7/16" on each lead ?-----Checked the flywheel key ?---Fuel pump diaphragm checked.------How did it run for you a month ago ?----Are wires from powerpack...

    I get a kick out of the posts where folks say---" rebuilt the carburetors and motor still runs the same "----Drain carburetors of fuel for long term storage.----Other than that just leave them alone.

    That has nothing to do with the mixture ratio of oil to gasoline.
