Looking at 1990 Bayliner, need advice

rebuilding or buying a reman will cost you about the same (about $2700 plus shipping) and that is just the longblock. if you need a manifold, it will cost you more. you may be able to shade-tree the rebuild for a bit less, however if you have to grind the crank, replace the rods/pistons...

Looking at 1990 Bayliner, need advice

welcome aboard I personally would walk away for a variety of reasons. first, its a 32 year old bayliner, it will most likely need to have a full hull restoration. bayliners from the 80s thru the 90's should be avoided as they did not have the best build practices. most likely its a 3.0, and...

    Old boat.

welcome aboard I would do a compression check on 5 and 7 I would also ask yourself why those two were your problem (such as leaking manifold, etc) a V8 will "pure like a kitten" running on 5 cylinders then I would replace all the rubber bits, pull the drive, inspect the u-joints and gimbal...

Are Four Winns know to have strong hulls? Installing a tower

no such thing as dry rot. there is rot that may have dried from being stored in an area where it could not continually get wet. a 1992 four winns is an OMC boat. not the most stellar build quality back then. only way to tell if you have moisture or not is a moisture meter.

    Boat cushions

welcome aboard you will most likely have to either make the cushions yourself or pay a local upholstery shop to make them. each pontoon boat maker usually makes their upholstery in-house because its cheaper than buying from an upholstery shop
