    New to the forums

Yep note arrow Needs a lot of work, but hey for $600 what can be expected. Run a compression test to check status of the motor. If it checks out, change all the fluids and filters, maybe even the gas if its old.

    Fuel starvation??

Looks like your engine has two oil pressure switches. The one below the distributer may not have anything to do with the fuel pump. There should be a Tee fitting where the oil sender is and may have the switch to control the pump on/off

Ignition Delay - Mercruiser 1997 Bravo One w/ 454 Mag (carbed)

Agree with BTdoc, find the slave solenoid and then make a 12 AWG jumper. The next time it does it turn key to on and then jump across the two top large terminals. If it cranks over you found your issue. Writing is the pic is not the post I'm talking about, they are the larger ones on top

Pop noise under engine cover, then no steering

:welcome: to iboats I think you either snapped the steering cable or broke the gear in the helm (steering box). In the bottom lower pic, remove the large nut (letter c) going to the steering ram (letter d) at the engine. Once removed then rotate the wheel and see if the cable moves

    Gas Line

HPLou your last post is messed up somehow, not your issue hope the web kolks can fix. You posted Since you have an 89 4.3 your fuel pump will have the filter above the pump as in the pic below You don't want to have both filters installed. Also check your anti-siphon valve on the tank

    Boat pulls to the left

Since you have PS go back to the steering ram and check to see if the cable nut is tight. There are flats on the round part of the ram, those flats need to be straight up and down.

    Transom assembly sealant Yes/No

Reading through the Merc installation manual it talks about using a locally found sealant around the inside edges to help prevent water absobtion. It does not say to use anything between the transom gasket and the outer hull. When I removed the transom assembly I didn't see anything which...

97 mercruiser 5.7 timing marks 180 degrees out for motor to run

Agree with above and will add, that when the marks are both at 12 o'clock the rotor would point to number 6 which is 180 degrees out. The cam rotates once for every two rotations of the crank.

1994 3.0L Mercruiser with a stripped oil pan drain plug?

:welcome: to iboats Guess since you tried the replacement plug you have two options IMO. Either pull the engine, remove the pan then replace or have it repaired. The other option would be to remove the plug, insert and let the oil drain out with the nose on the boat up some what. Leave it...

8.1 mercruiser keeps frying the computer

There are two sensors, cam and crank. The cam sensor is on the timing chain cover on the front of the engine. The crank sensor is on the rear of the engine. If you removed the Cam sensor and looked in you would see the Cam gear moving not the Crankshaft

Which tach for my old Johnson 60 hp?

You need to figure out how many poles is on your alternator, From what I'm finding as a non-expert it appears to be 10 or 12 poles. You use this to set the switch on the back of the tach. Also look to see if it is for a Johnson outboard such as this one
