Checking freon level will auto gauges work on Marine Airrr ?

first, fittings and gauges are specific to the type of refrigerant. R134a has R134a fittings and the gauges are color coded slightly different than R12 (as far as the red/green areas if they are color coded. R22 and R410a are generally for refrigerators and residential HVAC. the manifold and...

Minty clean 1974 Mercury 9.8hp value?

I paid $150 for a 1984 merc 9.8 with electric start, a 12 gallon tank, cables and a bunch of other parts. Found on CL in Missouri (im in Florida). Had choice of shipping ot pick up. Had relative pick up and hold. $1000 is high for a 48 year old 10hp motor.

No the 4" exhaust hoses. Rubber is only good for 250 degrees. Without water, the exhaust is 1200 degrees

    Gas fumes in cuddy

1.5 to 2 psi max. should hold literally forever. generally you need the tank out and need to use soapy water to check. tanks should be empty when you test as you may get a false reading with fuel in it. if you go past 4 psi, your square tank becomes round and you run risk of blowing the tank up.

Minty clean 1974 Mercury 9.8hp value?

5 years ago, I would have said that the motor is worth $100-$200. however in the last 2 years, prices for everything went up about 3x being 1974, it is definitely a fresh water only motor (steel shafts vs stainless) the motor should be about 70#. I suggest offering $400

    Stumped. OMC 235 HP I/O

yes, and the other shaft that that one plugs into remember, when you get the drive all sorted away, you need to replace the rubber exhaust hoses on the engine as the insides of them will be all burned up from lack of water.

    Replacing mercruiser 485

no such thing as a tight budget and boats. Boating is seriously more expensive than racing (racing you have sponsors to help) owning a platypus engine like the 470/485 also means you must have deeper pockets than if you had a V6 or V8 cranks the same between the two. you can swap flywheels...
