Is it worth getting a VHF with AIS in it?

Around here, Lake Superior, I only boat around the bay and Apostle islands. You lose cell signals when between islands, and handhelds don't reach to far. So it's good to have AIS. On smaller areas inland it's not needed. It's a good thing to have if you get in trouble.

Be easy on me please. Total newbie.

Welp. In my 50 years experience I’ve seen three that stripped the threads out. Not by me but it still can happen. The best way to avoid this is to just not do it. now let’s get back to helping hondaslave.

    Darn Mice Can Be Expensive

Had a wasp nest in the shed at the cabin. No access as it's got a plywood celing. I drilled a hole just below the soffit and stuck the insect fogger in there and let it run till smoke was coming out the soffits. Did that twice. Havent had any bugs for years!

Not sure on yours, I was working on a volvo once. Had an issue with the same thing. Diagnosing was doing similar things. Replaced both relays, it still acted up. Located another relay, in the front of the motor not in the box up top, it was on the right side looking from the front. Replaced that...

    Volvo AD31P needs constant bleeding

I’ve had to fully clean the engine and bilge to find slow leaks. Lay down white oil sorbs under the engine and you will find them.

    Non-Skid Gelcoat Wearing Off?

That just looks like stains. Do as suggested just clean it first. I've done it with 409 and it's worked fine. Sprits a bit on and scrub with a medium brush. It will look darker till it dries, Oh and rinse with clear water.

    Replacing Cleats

Some cleats have no hardware on top. If the bottoms are inaccessible, you need to remove seat backs or whatever you need to in the area, then if still no access, drill a hole with a holesaw big enough to get your wrench/hand in there. Then cover the hole with a deckplate when done. Been there...

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

Replace every cable on one around 5 years ago. The owner insisted they were all bad as it shifted hard, dual drives. Wouldn't let us check out the controls. After doing what he wanted it was back. He said he should have listened and we replaced the controls and then it was fine. Just yet another...

    Advice for first-time inboard owner?

I’ve found when reversing it helps to throw it in neutral once you are moving if its dog walking the wrong way. That removes the thrust from the prop and helps you go the way you want.
