Removal of alluminum boat fiberglass top cap

Ah yes. That would be more work than he needs to do for that. Unless the rail is actually under the glass top. Sure would make it lighter!

Removal of alluminum boat fiberglass top cap

Being an aluminum boat it should be stiffer than a fiberglass boat. Still make a couple of plywood cradles to set the boat on, they should extend up to the rubrail area. And measure everything and document it all before removal, during repairs and before assembly.

    Is this a reasonable quote?

Wowzers! Never saw one that bad. Glad you didn't ignore the noises. It could have been worse if the thing locked up and broke other stuff.

    Caprice Shudder at Hwy Speed

As a mechanic myself, I've taken back more than a few to the alignment shop the next day. The printout says one thing, but the result is different. They correct the issue quickly and then it's fine. I get a kick out of telling me I need this or that, when I've just replaced that part myself.

    Is this a reasonable quote?

Yes, lack of service in the past. Can't tell you how many times I've seen that. Possibly a bit high but then again, they don't know if any more issues will pop up. We used to quote high and hope it comes in as less after the repairs, which works out better for you. Sometimes no matter how well...

    Polishing or paint

My old boat was like that. I wet sanded and buffed to a glossy shine. Wax in the fall and spring. Good to go. It didn't take out the deep scratches but still looks good a few years later.

First time cleaning a carb, ruined the jets?

I wish. Pretty dead out here the last few days. My old game cam didn't work so I set up a new one yesterday. But my new phone can't read what I got. Have to get home and figure that out. Ugh. The rut should start in a couple weeks.

First time cleaning a carb, ruined the jets?

I have a set of gun screwdrivers. Don't remember where I got them but they work perfectly. Straight shank and robust tips.

    How bad is it.

Been running mine for five years with the same crack, repaired with jb. Chunks of rust always come out of the drains. Non issue. Be sure to poke them with a wire or sip tie to be sure they drain properly..

    4.3 Harmonic Balancer

Seen to over the years that broke the crank just behind the lower timing gear. Those were chev 350's in cars/trucks. The pully was wobbly, but the darn things still ran. Scary when ya think about what could have happened. Don't think that's your issue but just a thing to check. Take the belts...

There should be a breaker in the main panel. It's either labeled vacu-flush or head. Are all the breakers on in the panel?

Can you use 2 stoke oil in a prestolite, trim pump?

I use atf. Even in hydraulic jacks I use it. I've seen a few jacks over the years that failed. After dumping the jack oil, I fill with atf and they work again. The trim pump is a pump. Power steering is a pump also. It works for me.
