Swim platform refinishing and anti-slip / skid

I took a razor blade to the corner of the anti-skid. A piece came off - it's translucent and embedded in whatever it is they used to coat the whole platform - not tape. So, I'd like to redo it similarly. Any suggestions on how to remove 90in x 5 rows of aggregate material embedded in varnish /...

Swim platform refinishing and anti-slip / skid

The color clearly is different where the coating is vs. where it is not. Is that due to the wood losing color because it's exposed or is that because the clear has some sort of pigment in it? I'd like to maintain the rich color. Any tips on how to coat it or what products one would use?

Swim platform refinishing and anti-slip / skid

I have a swim deck that looks worn. I want to refinish it during the offseason. In looking at the swim deck closely, it appears that it was coated with some sort of shiny, thicker material. I'm not sure if that's epoxy, polyurethane, some or lacquer or what exactly. It's thick enough to where...

    Winterizing indoor stored boat.

I read another post (https://forums.iboats.com/threads/rust-in-cooling-system.617837/) where it was stated that rust in the cooling system is expected. In my previous boat, which I mentioned above, I never drained the cooling system prior to winter and, when I did (during summer occasionally) I...

    Winterizing indoor stored boat.

Just to be clear, the block IS drained. That I did do, but I did it before I thought about the fogging / stabilizer. From what you're saying, sounds like that might not be that big of a deal :) Thanks!

    Winterizing indoor stored boat.

My boat is stored in boat storage facility indoors. The facility is not heated, however it is closed up from the hours of 6pm - 9am. Additionally, I live in Northern California in the valley where it rarely hits below freezing overnight. My prior boat I never winterized and it was stored at the...

Lifting boat off trailer to repair bunk

Not my shining moment here: we had no way to getting them home, so we set them aside at the boat ramp on the river bank. I came back the next morning with a skill saw and they were gone by 9:30am. We got off the water around 8pm the night before... so just over 13 hours. I live outside of...

Using navigation lights with bow lights in unison.

I must have forgotten this law. So, if I understand correctly, if boating at night, I *essentially* cannot "see" unless there is something I know I'm specifically looking out for and would use a handheld light quickly. This information changes the game for me. We've been coming in lately after...

Using navigation lights with bow lights in unison.

We've been doing a lot more night boating lately and I've come to really appreciate the need for a bow light so I can spot obstacles, etc. Assuming they give me the amount of light I'd want, they seem like a good option. When it comes to wiring, I imagine I could just splice them into my nav...

Lifting boat off trailer to repair bunk

UPDATE: I replaced the bunks yesterday. I prepared them in my garage ahead of time with an important step: I made sure that the carpet on the backside of the bunk around where the lag bolts would go in was cut back nearer to the edge of the board so not to interfere / twist the carpet when...

Lifting boat off trailer to repair bunk

I think this is what I'm leaning towards more and more. I'm just going to have to ask the entourage to be patient ;) I'll feed them drinks while I do the work 😂

Lifting boat off trailer to repair bunk

The point with the RTV was to prevent the bolts from backing out. Good point on the moisture! Ultimately all my bunks need to be replaced in a much larger effort.

Lifting boat off trailer to repair bunk

I have a bunk that, as of last night, decided to completely detach itself from the trailer while launching. I had to get in the water and sandwich the bunk between the boat and the trailer as someone pulled the boat out of the water. Needless to say, I need to repair this ASAP. I've picked up...

A ghost is stealing my anchors...

I certainly will remove the snap hook, but the curiosity in me is piqued for sure... I'd love to know *how* it is happening.

A ghost is stealing my anchors...

Ok guys, I'm sure there is an explanation for this, but I have lost 2 of the exact same type of anchor both times I've used them... It has me in disbelief as both times I pulled up my rope with nothing attached to the other end of it. I've attached pictures of both the anchor and the rope with...

    One manifold hot (5.0)

@Bondo, the boat isn't level, however it is close to level and the low side is actually the hot side, so I don't think that plays into it here. I have a new theory however - my thermostat housing takes water from the port side and flows it to the starboard side where it is being sucked in by...

    One manifold hot (5.0)

@Lou C, I found a separate thread which says that tube that goes from the manifold to the intake IS an exhaust gas line: https://forums.iboats.com/threads/mercruiser-5-7-exhaust-tube.675274/

    One manifold hot (5.0)

You must be talking about #13 - #15 in that link... I don't have any nylon balls, etc. I can stick a screwdriver straight through the "T" which goes off to either manifold. It is just freely open. By the way, I've really appreciated your help. Thank you.

    One manifold hot (5.0)

Hrm, interesting! That would definitely answer why it is hotter on that side.... I thought it was an EGR tube and just recirculating exhaust gases back into the intake manifold to be reburned. *shrug*. I like your answer better because it would at least explain what's going on... but that...
