    Sewing machine for canvas,Which brand??

I guess it depends on how big a bank you are talking about . . . The Admiral has a (supposedly) 'Heavy Duty' Singer sewing machine . . . fairly new. I tried sewing canvas (sunbrella) with it. It was a no-go for the most part. I added a special 'flywheel' to the machine and it helped some...

    Not receiving emails

Thanks for reaching out. We are aware of the issue and will be working with the company that operates the forum. Not sure how long it will take for resolution, but we recommend checking in on a regular basis if you are active in some threads.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Mass production of gusset fiberglassing . . . I have over 20 gussets to glass in. I tried a couple of them 'free hand' and the results were OK, but not great. So, I made a template on my computer and laid them out on a large piece of 1708 cloth. . . Don't tell anybody, but I lightly glue a...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

The larger (2") hole really put up some reactionary torque . . . The holes saws (tungsten carbide ?) worked really well. Nobody had to hold my beer.

Weep holes installed . . . before I forget to do them. . I got some special tungsten carbide hole saws to drill through the bottom of the stringers. 6 holes total so as not to trap any water.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Thanks for the lead-in . . . 168 lbs as it is now. . . . My calculations are 186 +/- lbs. more to go (354 lbs.), then there is the stuff that goes on/around the inside of the transom (50-75 lbs). So, it is pretty much on track.

It would tell me to add helium balloons to the inside.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

More gusset cores . . . . . . . . 26 gussets in total (on the inside). There will be a couple more on the outside. Next steps are to glass all these things in. The gussets are intended to support (stiffen) the flange area around the structural members, as that is where most of the bolts...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I think that someone who runs only in fresh water may be hesitant, but for those who run I/O boats in salt water, not so much. For the inquiries I've gotten, CATs and salt have not been a main topic of discussion.

Also, I've seen a fair amount of 'traffic' on FB Marketplace regarding the sale of the Mercruisers. Thousands of views and about a dozen nibbles, but no hard bites. I think the engines will be with me until spring time, but probably a better time of year to sell as a re-power.

In other news . . . I have been washing my 'work' clothes often as they get dusty and itchy almost on a daily basis as I work on the extension pod. so, far I have inadvertently washed my wallet twice. I never knew how easy it is to launder money until I started doing it. :ROFLMAO:

Can I buy a trailer online?

Since I am Ted . . . I'd say make sure the person/company that you are buying from is legitimate and not the type of scam that just takes your money. According to Google . . . "Online trailer sales scams are common, primarily on platforms like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. Scammers...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Quick Update . . . Structural finer points. One of the concerns I had about the structural design was a fairly long run of the secondary 'stringers' (about 42") vs. their width (~ 0.75"). These stringers (perhaps more like girders) are in line with the engine mount locations, so they will have...

Ribs, Gussets and Lateral Supports . . . so as to get back on topic. It has been slow going, but I am getting my arms around the details of the internal structure of the extension pod. As I proceed, it is occurring to me that maybe I over-designed this a 'wee bit', but who knows. Since...

For me shy and strong is as much as 1/16", but often 1/32" For cutting things, if you want 'shy' cut the line, if you want strong leave the line.
