1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Ok so for the crank case sealing the 518 is a must. What can I do for places where a gasket is used can I use some silicone whether liquid type or paste type to make sure there is no leak? I am talking really thin amount on the gasket? Even copper spray that some spray head FeltPro gaskets on...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

What do you guys use to clean the crud off the exhaust tube. It is nasty and black. Can I use gas or diesel? I have a parts cleaner with a pump in it that I got recently it is not too big but it should accomodate this size engine. I need to know what to use for the aluminum that won't affect the...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Yeah thanks, I am using the Loctite on the 2 crank case pieces but on the separation plate when opened there was black silicon don't know if original. Everything else had nothing but gaskets. So I don't know much about the 518 or the gel as compatibility with gaskets but permatex I do know. The...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

It only works up to 400F I don't think temps go higher than that right? I wonder if the red permatex for high heat would work around the exhaust gaskets? I am trying to make sure the knicks and scratches don't bleed out air. I always use the black ultra on cars don't see why it won't work here...

When you say liquid sealer Can I use this one it's used up to 400 degrees, for gas, oil water etc...

I was reading on it and apparently if and when you get water in the cylinders that could be the culprit. That's why I asked. To me it looks beat as heck. Can you use silicone of some sort on the gaskets of these parts? I would not trust it without.

I took all the parts off the engine to clean and when I got to the exhaust cover I noticed the plate behind it was not exactly straight. It has a bulge in the middle that goes on throughout the length of it. Is it mandatory that the plate is flat? I will.show a photo tomorrow.

Yes sir it is. Just double checking not questioning. So you're saying the Loctite 518 is enough no need for the Crankcase Cover Seal F698122 And the same for the spacer plate at the bottom of engine that had the gasket on top and sealant on the bottom?

Crowly Marine diagrams show Crankcase Cover Seal F698122 number 20 in the picture When I opened it up it did show a red sealant like Loctite.

I noticed the 2 halves have a groove, this is similar to BMW crank halves there you inject the sealant until it comes out. So I assume the sealant is only put in the groove space right not on the whole edge. Is this the Johnson...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

So I decided to buy 4 new pistons and rings .020 spending 700 bucks to repair this is not a lot. I have a question in the books they mention a sealant as industrial 750 sealant. I don't know if that is available but what have you guys used to seal the crank cases together and the bottom end...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

I have to get a new piston anyways. If I get 4 it will go up in price. I was gonna get on bore at .010 and the rest just new rings. I measured it 100 times. With the telescopic gauge I got the 3.3782. That's the largest I got the dial gauge was a bit less. It's all up there in the picture of...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Ok found a machine shop with a guy that told me to get the .020 since he didn't measure it he said that is safe to get the 0.020. But I measured it and want to get the 0.010 Only number 2 has been hone to do understand the damage. Also he said to do them all. So do you guys think I can get...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

So I am thinking to take the block to a machine shop to do proper boring but I need to buy the OS piston and rings first. Which size do I get based on the measurements, .010 or bigger?

My dial gauge is not top notch so ball park set it at 3.375 and went up and down from there On #2 some minor error adding .00005 Don't know how the telescopic dial found 3.381

Ok so I need to do this properly, so I am following this video to use a micrometer and dual gauge and see tye real status of each cylinder. I zeroed everything. I will set it at 85mm and see what's going on. I am sure it's out of round more than .002 So honing is in order. On #2 I want to see...

I think I need the .010 which will he bigger than my bore at roughly 3.3820. It will he bigger which means I still need to take of some material. The bore has to he 3.385 right?
