    The bearing is spinning fine, how do I tell if it is compromised? I mean it should not make any noise right even thoigh it is a niddle bearing. Without oil it does feel a bit rough. Can it be saved?

    Will do So there are 2 bearings one on the main shaft which was definitly full of crud and the other attached to the reverse gear don't know if it is salvageable. That one is big. I cannot find a part number for it. Any ideas? Here are pics of the bearings and clutch dog(I think)

    Is that what you used? They say w30 is the safe all around lower viscosity that 10w40. They recommend iso68 which is a SAE 20 the SAE30 is ISO100. So the 40 is even higher. Wanna make sure the outboards don get stuck from higher viscosity. Just asking. Thanks
