    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

You're right I actually thought it was a check ball valve that was stuck in the white calcium build up. But the JB-weld idea sounds great. I do need to hide the damn hammer. The passage for the gear lube is fine I blew some air and it goes to the gear chamber. This particular ball doesn't seem...

So if I did hammer it and it went down a bit could it affect anything. Worried about the spaces around the ball. They happened after the hammering

I hope that's all there is. I hammered it a bit and it kind of went down, maybe it is my imagination. From the flipside the oil hole doesn't seem to have access to the ball.

So I wanted to ask if anyone know what that silver ball down in the shaft see picture below? The ball inside there, underneath the Stuffer Plug, doesn't move so before I put the top cover back want to make sure this is not a problem. It's right next to the Upper Driven Gear Assembly compartment.

I have removed the upper drive seals 26-66302 Driveshaft Housing & Drive Gears for Mercruiser (Alpha One (Gen. Ii) Sterndrive & Transom Assembly) Engine (marineengine.com) and it seems I need a special tool to drive them the right distance. MERCURY 91-817570 UPPER DRIVE SHAFT HOUSING SEAL DRIVER...

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

I am beginning to wonder myself. The bearings were spinning a little slower than these newer ones are by hand. I mean really hard to spin. Initially wanted to just do the seals only but when reading about the bearings preload and how they should spin I decided that they were too tight. I just...

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

So because I have the drive apart I though of changing the seals on the upper part of the drive, so I got the tool and removed the gears. The thing I discovered is that the 2 bearings in the drive gear assembly don't spin freely at all. I have to hold the gear or put it back in the yoke and spin...

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

So I connected most of the stuff back to the bell housing and it wasn't easy. I installed all the bellows on the gimbal first including the shift cable, used the adhesive. It wasn't extremely difficult but anyways, have to be careful. I installed the oil hose which in my opinion should be...

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

Yeah I just did the seal and bearing and it is the non-greaseable one but I already had the seal and put it in anyways. I also already got a new oil hose in and zip-tied, and the shift cable through. i am changing the trim switches tomorrow. Do the wires have positive and negative or it doesn't...

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

So I initially used a slide hammer to get the bearing out and it failed to do so so I ordered the proper tool and finally got it out. My question now is since the oil seal came out also when I put it back is it pushed all the way against the back of the designated space right? See picture Also...

The whole area including bellows are really good and the bearing is perfect. This boat has not been used much. If you look at the pictures I took there is no water intrusion anywhere. I wonder if I should just leave it alone for now and wait awhile. I am just pissed off that the alignment tool I...

Should I mess with the gimbal steering arm swivel? I know it's a pain to remove and there is a certain way to tighten it. The original might be corroded I don't know but looking at the stuff I took out which doesn't look so bad I would rather not. What say you?

I already removed the manifolds and riser and no water was present , no traces of any rust in the exhaust area. This boat was not used and abused it mostly set.

Ok so I opened up the lower drive and here is the water impeller, it looks really odd to me but have never seen another. There are pictures of the area where the pump goes As you probably didn't expect I forgot that there was a bolt at the outer end and by forcing it the casing I cracked on...
