    I don't know who mercs current supplier for oil filters is but last I checked they were made by champ. So a merc short filter and a delco say pf454 were more or less identical aside from paint on the can. Don't over think it. If the filter fits a 5.7 it's more than fine. Engine was in production...

    Mine popped out easy enough with just threading a bolt into it. It would suck to try and tap in the new one installed though. I've done much worse.

    I swapped the bypass valve when I installed mine. It was a lower pressure bypass. I actually have to update the other thread now that photos are back.
