    Some good stuff happening

We started the garage cleanup using the "3 piles" method. 1 pile for trash 1 pile to keep 1 pile to give away It begins! I'll be using some of the "keep" pile to build stuff, then we'll put the rest into the trash pile.

    Some good stuff happening

And 2x4s it is! Got things done since my last post. Although I am by no means any kind of carpenter, I think the completed stand will hold up well enough. First, we moved stuff around so that we could "hide" the air handler. My wife doesn't know that we're doing an AC project. I...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I received the tach harness today but won't be able to install the tach for a couple more weeks. We're hot and heavy into the garage cleanup/fixup project and that's sucking up all my time. We are planning on taking the KF out this coming weekend. Long overdue!

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

I recently used dental impression syringes to apply 5200 around some stainless bolts and they worked perfectly. The 5200 tube tip fit inside the applicator syringe, which allowed filling with zero mess. Then, a gentle squeeze on the syringe during application was all it took. No muss, no...

    Hours? How?!

Another point of view is that the "big" motor isn't being used much even though the boat may be out on the water, in use, a lot. Especially for fishing boats which spend "some" time getting to a fishing spot, then drifting, anchoring or using a trolling motor (electric or gas) to move around...

    Forum update

The primary font color in the replies is way too light for me to read. When I type a reply, it shows up as a nice solid black, but that very light gray font after hitting "Post reply" is TOUGH to read. 👀

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

When you get the hull to look like this, you'll be ready to paint. Just sayin'. 😜

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

After turning the interwebz upside down and shaking vigorously, I was able to find a 2" tach to fit the KF dash. I actually found a needle in a haystack. Finally! :p But! Although I received it in the mail today, I won't be able to install it for another two weeks. That's because the tach...

    Some good stuff happening

Well, it's been 2 1/2 years since my last post on this project. No real changes have happened since then, but change is definitely acomin' now! :D My young neighbor friend who installed the electric, CATV and internet for me came over this evening to repair the Ethernet cable that runs out to...

    I need a small in-dash tachometer

While checking on the info provided by you good folks, I happened upon this one which might be the proverbial needle in a haystack. It's 12-pole only but has NO instructions. However, it has 4 wires: red, black, blue and gray. Positive, negative, light and tach signal from...

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

If you use this paint, it likely won't perform well unless you use the hardener. And the hardener requires serious Personal Protection Equipment. Namely Positive Pressure face mask, etc. That kind of equipment is pricey. A normal respirator isn't enough. I wasn't willing to shell out $1500...

    I need a small in-dash tachometer

I've been seriously thrashing the web for a 2" diameter tach which can mount in my dash and work with a 2-stroke motor. So far, no joy. I've found a few automotive tachs which would fit, but can't handle 2-stroke engines. There is very limited space on the dash for the tach. I suppose I...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

This morning I had to remove the new Voltage Regulator... Again. I forgot to install the Thermal Paste on the rear yesterday. It took awhile, but I got it done. Then I adjusted the carbs to get the engine idle RPM into spec at 600 - 700 RPM, after a 10 minute...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I did get a new ground strap fashioned today and installed it to the regulator with washers as shims behind. Didn't have time to test the engine today but am planning on doing that tomorrow morning. I used 10 ga. wire but trimmed one end to accommodate a smaller connector on one end. Then I...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yessir, we did. And the voltage was rapidly, wildly fluctuating from nearly zero up to 16vdc. I think that the regulator has an insufficient grounding point. I'm going out to the garage in a few minutes to construct a grounding strap for it so that the connection is really solid. Check the...
