60 ELPT BF Falling Off at High End and Leaking Fuel from the Vapor Separator

Hello. 60 hp, 4 cylinder EFI, Serial 1C153252. Just put it in the water for the season. Starts, idles and takes off great, but, after a minute of full throttle it will falter and experience a serious drop in power. Let it rest a few minutes and it will repeat; take-off well only to falter...

    1993 200 Xri 0D222728 Lower Unit Compatibility

Hi. Hope you're well. I have a 1993 200 Xri V-6 that needs a complete lower unit. From a parts diagram, I believe what I am looking for is a 9148A11. Can you coach me on compatibility with other years and models? 2004, 9148T85 ? 1998, 9148A83 ? '79 to '06, 9148T82 ? Any kind of direction is...

Evinrude 1987 E50BELCUD Idle Performance and Timing Question

All good. Thank you. Engine ran smooth last year. Boosting the idle does help but is a little fast for trolling. Carb jets are clean. So, ... that's why I wanted to know what timing is appropriate for idle. I may smooth it out a bit and not use fuel to do it... I'm not a fan of auto-oiling...

Evinrude 1987 E50BELCUD Idle Performance and Timing Question

Compression is at 165 both cylinders. VRO is disabled with fuel mixed at 50:1. Thermostat is on order. I noted the temp at 108 F a little after start-up but I did not check again with further run time. The engine does run better when at temp as opposed to initial start and warm-up. Spark will...

Evinrude 1987 E50BELCUD Idle Performance and Timing Question

Working on a 50 hp, 2 cylinder, 2-stroke. This engine does not have low speed mixture adjustment. It has fixed jets. I am trying to improve idle performance. When left at idle speed for extended time, as in trolling, the engine will eventually stall out. I can avoid the stall by applying...

    1955 Mercury Mark 40 Help

Hope you're well. Been a little while. I have come across a 1955 Mercury Mark 40, serial 825853, and have several questions. I'm sure you can help me. Pictures attached. 4-cylinder, 2-carburetor. It was mentioned to be an "H", for high rev (?). How would I verify that? The information I...

Help Identifying an Air Cooled Clinton

Found an air cooled Clinton at a swap meet. It's been painted over but has retained the 3.5 marking. Looks complete other than a cracked carry handle. Fires right up. I will have to find the fuel line-to-engine connector. The tag says: BJ9 1106C 262472 60 28923 R Can anyone help identify...

2004 Yamaha T50 TLRC Internal Corrosion

Thank you. Helps me push a used-power-head-option off the table. I've heard of the same on a Honda... So it seems that an "end of year flush" would not help the situation either as the engine remains docked through the season. Thank you, again, J p.s., by the way, Holland, MA. I-84 at CT line...

2004 Yamaha T50 TLRC Internal Corrosion

I just took apart a T50TLRC that had very bad water in the oil; runny mayonnaise. What I found when I pulled the head was horrible. The internal corrosion looked like the engine had run in salt water. The problem is the cylinder walls are so thin at the head interface that a head gasket has...

1991 US Marine L-drive Taking on Water

Probably found it. The boat is a Bayliner and there's a grommet behind the bellows going into the hull which looks like it is sheathing the shift cable. It is broken and displaced. That'll be my first go-to. Thanks, J

1991 US Marine L-drive Taking on Water
