    Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... That's the idle relief port,.... My guess is, the motor has overheated at some point in it's life, causing the shutter to burn up from a lack of water, 'n fell down into the down-pipe, blocking the exhaust flow out the prop,....

    Ayuh,.... it doesn't matter whether you rotated the motor, or not,.... Now, you must rotate it to Tdc, compression stroke, on #1 to set the valves on #1,.... Then turn it to Tdc compression stroke, on each of the other cylinders,..... I don't like the idea of turning the pushrods to find 0...

    Ayuh,.... Around the time yer's was new, the bolt holes moved abit, so you may, or may not need to redrill a couple of holes,..... If you go with the Gen.II, there's two more holes that'll need drilling, you can use the inner plate to locate exactly where,... The tuning I mentioned is...

    Ayuh,..... I do both at seasons end, regardless the hours run,...... Fresh oil in the motor, so that there's no acids or other crap during the lay-up,..... I do the drive, so that I Know there's no water in the case,....

    Ayuh,....... Boat motors are basically more standardized, sorta,...... The boat I've been putterin' on, started out with yer motor, 'n drive,..... Now it's sporting a 350/ Alpha 1 drive,...... Yer choices for a drop-in motor is a 2.5l, or the 3.0l,... Any other choice, can be done, but...
